Adding pause button to a JAMMA cabinet
« on: January 29, 2008, 02:28:17 pm »
A friend of mine has a Black Tiger Cabinet. With kids and real life, he'd like to be able to wire some kind of pause feature to the PCB. Does anyone know if this is possible? We have the pinout and DIP switch settings, but none seem to suggest an obvious way to do this. Thanks

Its not possible.

The pause function is a part of MAME and cannot be implemented to original PCBs.

What spacies said.

I have heard that a very few PCBs have a pause feature built in (Double Dragon comes to mind, but I never tried it when I had one), but this is not standard at all.

* CheffoJeffo would love a pause feature on Rygar

I had seen a couple that had that kind of modification so I was hoping that there would be a work around. I'm always amazed at how inventive and creative people can be. I guess the kids will just have to learn to wait. Thanks.

Kind of a tangent answer, but a relatively low spec PC will run black tiger on mame at full speed, and a lot more besides. If your friend has one lying around you could have a pausable black tiger on the cab and lots more besides.

He actually has built several MAME projects, but had the chance at an inexpensive Black Tiger cab that he could keep "authentic" - with the exception of the pause button. Thanks though.
