I still see them on eBay from time to time, and I think GroovyGameGear has them as well.

I guess those are mostly the 38 mm handle versions.

Suzo still had a limited stock of them when I last asked, but that was about 1,5 year ago.

I will check with them today.

The smaller handle is 32 mm. not 30 mm.

Sorry about the delay but here's the info.

Suzo headquarters still has 18 pcs. of the 32 mm. ball handle Inductive Joystick.

The price is €25,- incl. VAT when I pick them up.

Regretfully for the US guys the dollar is very weak so this is about $37,- each at today's rates.

And  of course this is excluding shipping. Now I've checked before, and I don't believe they sold a single unit between the first time I asked (about 2 years ago)and now, so I will try and get a deal on these. If I can round up let's say for 10 pcs. (or maybe even all 18) I bet they'll be glad to get rid of them and get a better price.....

So who's interested ? I will go to Suzo's headquarters next wednesday so it would be good to know before then.

Is this for the entire joystick (base, stick, and circuits what have you)?  Im still working on the 2 player vert shump cab and heard good things about them.  i might be in for 2 but id like a quote first for the total cost if some other people also want them.

They come complete and also include a little connector that you crimp onto your cab wiring that plugs into the stick (since they also take 5v). I've had two of these for a vert shooter cab and you heard right. They are great sticks. Smooth corners, light throw and very precise. Personally, I think they're about the ugliest sticks ever made, but can't complain about their functionality.

Sweet.  Im torn though on these or a set of leafswitch.  I already have one leafstick so i might just try and find another of those or go with these depending on price.

You can change the sticks though to something more attractive right?

I think someone here made new shafts and balltops for them... Kowal maybe? I never changed them because I like the feel of the stick, I just think it's goofy looking because the stick itself is fatter at the top than at the base.

OK, I just talked face to face with Vanessa (which is not a punishment I have to say :D) and she offered me a very good price for the left-over 18 inductives:

€18,- incl. VAT. That was the normal price when you'd buy 1000 of them, so I guess she wants to clear out this "old rubbish", as I suggested.

This is $27,- or UKP 13,50.

So. Who's interested ? If I can have orders for 10, I will take the plunge.

Remember that I will not make a penny on this and it will be some work, but I like to give something back for all the great things that this forum brought me.

I bought some from TNT Amusements a couple of years ago. I've just looked at their site and it appears they're still selling them for the very reasonable price of $17.99.

Yes but these are the 38 mm sized ball tops.

This thread is all about the 32 mm. ball tops.

I ordered most of my inductives from TNT as well.

Anyway, Kowal seems to be cheaper on the 32 mm (I wonder if they still have stock of these in Poland ??) and TNT on the 38 mm. so I guess the deal is off ....

dispatching from Poland is 5-8x dearer than to Poland :dunno
I send "smaller things" as list to USA/Euro- this is cheap, but joystick - this already package and is dear.
sorry no stock they import all from Holland. I do not know what it has so cheap.
I have wholesale prices, I order often but not wholesale quantities. haha maybe SUZO like me.  Suzo Poland not answer on email and  I shout very through telephone... they fear because I shout relentlessly XDD

I bought my Suzos Universal 500, ordering them to Madrid. So, if you live in Spain, you can get these sticks in a few days, very quick considering that they have to receive them from Holand. Every stick costs 23€ and the shipping 35€.

Would have been much cheaper to order them from the US with current dollar rates (wwwtntamusments.com) Or even when you order them with me. €35,- shipping is crazy from Holland to Spain....

OK, I found it a Capcom Cps2....

I have no idea how these are powered, but looks like they need a PC-like power supply ?

There has to be some wires carrying +5v and gnd. Does that box maybe have some external power connections ?

i can find the gnd wire on the jamma connector but i cant find the 5v. i was told you can get 5v's from the jamma connector but i cant seem to connect the right wire. it supposed to be the 3rd and fourth connector across.

Yes, pins 3,4 and C and D should carry +5V.

when i connect to the 3rd or fourth wire the arcade switches off. or it acts like the gnd wire.

not sure if i'm connecting it properly.

Sounds like you're shorting it, thus the power supply shuts down.

Just googled for "suzo inductive pin" and found this from our Polish friend Kowal (guess he don't mind if I link to it here:

kowal gave me that diagram last week. my only problem seems to be finding 5vs. do i connect it to the wire going into the 5v pin or do i connect it to the pin itself?

the problems tha mta connector. it sucks.

the wire wont stick inside the connector, even when it does the suzo doesnt work.

i've just recieved a 0.156 inch crimp but its too big i think i needed the 0.1

can some recomend a connector?

so its the one at the top?

HZ06 + HZT-LF it only shows 2 golden pins but i'm assuming you get 6 when you order the 6 pin connector.

it doesnt look like the one you've posted.

I bet Suzo headquarters still has the 32 mm handles.

The last source I know for the 38 mm was TNT amusements.

Yeah, I checked with TNT, they didn't have any more. Did you mean Suzo-Happ HQ in Poland or the one in Illinois? I should clarify, I'm also looking for the stick itself (base/pcb/etc), not just the shaft, though the 32mm would indeed be preferable.

There's only one Suzo headquarters and that is over here in The Netherlands. Suzo was founded in 1955 in Rotterdam (very near where I live).
It's now moved to a small town (Oud-Beijerland) near Rotterdam.

I guess the Suzo-Happ merger makes confusing :)

Anyway, I'll check if they still have some (yes, I meant the complete joystick). How many would you want ?

At one point in time the rep there tried to sell me the entire lot for a great price, but I just didn't see much interest in them. Dollar-Euro rate makes things worse I guess....

I sent an email to Suzo-Happ here in the U.S. and didn't receive a reply. Hah.

As many as you can get your hands on ideally. 4 of the 32mm if possible.

Thanks in advance for checking.

What is it about this stick that some people like so?

I have four, though I haven't decided whether to mess with them. More than needing a molex connector to hook them up, the ball of the stick handle is larger than a joystick hole; the bottom is difficult to get off; and you need a special set of plyers to remove the stick retaining ring deep inside.

only one electronic short throw stick on world
inductive arrangement is 100x  better from optical LED (symmetrical, durability). LED sux only inductive and Hall effect.
very good octagonal restrictor (fell is better than sanwa or seimitsu octagonal)
symmetrical diagonals and normal direction all is 45 degree (other electronic stick like HappP360  only15degrees, Wico P360 30degrees) similar degrees have only U360 but SUZO is old construction (over min15 years (20?))
regulated potentiometers you can easy calibrate axis X and Y
"joystick forever" I never see and never hear about broken SUZO, if something damaged this your mechanical fault or 2000V, this stick is imperishable.
find better stick for shmups and fast game - unreal

yes pivot crunches with time and it is ugly and have difficult assembly
but parameters and idea this stick is perfect

arcade world need new suzo inductive with better construction

Exactly what Kowal writes. These are the best joysticks ever.Period.

They are ideal for MAME IMHO. I've got 2 (38 mm) on my Mame cab. I've always liked the Suzo joysticks because I grew up with them. Not only on the arcade machines we played, but also at home I had a Suzo Competition Pro with leafs (yes the very first one's were with leafs !) I loved the short travel and throw. Very accurate and extremely durable. They still work fine today and I use them whenever I play my Atari 8-bit computers.

For the inductives:
Only if you play games like Robotron (with lot's of rotary joystick action) you will have to file out the "edges" that guide you to the 8 positions normally.

I even "hacked" the potmeter set-up so that I can switch between 4 and 8-way electronically. Very easy to do.

It's also the ONLY stick that you can set-up for Q*bert _perfectly_. You just configure the left-up, right-up etc in MAME so that it acts as the correct directions in the game. There is no physical problem with this, there is no 2 switches having to be "pressed" that way, because there is no physical contact anywhere. This also makes it extremely durable.

I never use the included red connector as it sucks big time. Instead I used those white connectors that you need to clamp pins in. There must be a thread about it somewhere. Those are much sturdier.

Indeed I think they must be about 20 years old now. They still have "STC Rotterdam" on them,so Suzo was still in Rotterdam at that time, and that's already a long time ago that they moved.

I totally forgot Kowal, but didn't you make dedicated replacement shafts and ball-tops for these ? I think I even ordered some from you ? I _completely_ forgot about it !!!

[Edit] White connectors story here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=58328.0

I actually bought a Molex kk series 6-pin female housing to wire it up and even though the 2.54mm pitch matched, the plastic housing itself was too tall to fit snugly in the opening. Fry's didn't have any Berg connectors, so I ended up ripping out the power/reset/hdd led wires out of a derelict computer case and using those. It would be nice to have a proper harness, but it's probably not worth it to mail-order the Berg crimping tool and housings/pins to wire up a stick or two. The supplied red mta 100 connector is even more obscure.

Kowals' custom made shafts: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=53719.0

Those look nice. Suzo-Happ's site still shows the 32mm STC being available which should fit, but those don't have the ferrite ring at the end. GGG also sells a replacement shaft for the STC, but since it's made to allow mounting under thicker CPs, the shaft is longer and increases the throw. I have a couple of them and have considered taking a Dremel to shorten the length and create a new c-clip groove at the proper position, but I'd still have to conjure up a ferrite actuator. Short of finding a cache of 32mm shafts somewhere, are there any other ways to reduce the throw on this stick?

Got a reply from Suzo. They still have 16 in stock. €25 each.

If you'd like to pay through PayPal I'll need to add a little something for the conversion and PP rates.

With current rates (you did not choose a good time I'm afraid) it's about 37 USD per stick.....

And of course shipping will need to be added.

Let me know if and how many you want.

I called up my local happ sales rep to see if what they can get me in regards to the suzo inductive - for some reason she only had the one ending in -3 in their database (38mm i guess), I told her to ask about either. Hopefully she follows through and gets the right info from suzo hq.

Success! I placed an order for 2 today. $37 each, not sure about the shipping yet - apparently they charge me immediately, then adjust the charge to account for a more accurate shipping cost when it gets stateside or something.

an update - I finally got two about two months after I placed my order. it ended up being $90 total w/ shipping. I was hopin to sell one on the shmups forum to make up some of the cost of the first one, but noone seems interested in one of the best shmupping sticks ever =/

That's cos they're sanwa/seimitsu freaks. I don't know why, cos those sticks have wild throw and grand canyon 8-way troughs.

No idea what you're talking about, but Suzo inductives are excellent sticks.
I have two of them in my vert cab and they are really nice. Light, perfect throw, etc. They are odd looking for people used to Happ and Wico stuff, but once you start using them in games that is all forgotten.

I also have a Sanwa ball top micro-switch stick that feels nothing like your description up there.

Hey Zapf, glad it worked out in the end. At least I got the dollar price correct. Not sure if it would have been any more expensive if I would have bought them (it would at least have been a lot faster).

I grew up with Suzo sticks and they rock. The inductive is the best they ever made and it is the most underrated stick ever. It easily beats any stick IMHO, the only exception is the Midway PacMan stick.

I've always hated any Japanese sticks. Throw and travel are WAAAAAAY to long for me...

Actually, I think the inductive/euro stick is one of the oddest looking sticks I've seen. And I'd half its throw if I could (would be really easy by having a new sleeve piece machined larger, though I don't know how the sensor system would react to it), but it's at least less than the sanwas/seimitsus I've experienced.

For those with Suzo Inductives, which arcade enclosures (case) did you use to get them mounted in? Thx
GM 224, Win7 64 Bit, i5-2400 @ 3.1Ghz, ATI HD 5750, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
