I have Happ Competitions in my cabinet.  They work perfectly fine for both game types you mention.

Well I have tried lots of sticks Happ Comp, Switchables from Ultimarc and the Happ 360's

Now I just bought a pair of U360 from Ultimarc and I absolutely love them.
Config. properly they can do anything. 2-way 4-way 8-way because they are programmable and you can make you own custom maps with the software they provide.

Search the forums about them and see what other people say. My fav. game is Robotron
which is an 8-way duel joystick game and they are awesome. I haven't tried any fighters with them but I sure they are awesome with those games too.

Do those U360 sticks happen to fit in the same size recess as a Happ Super? Just want to know if I want to upgrade to the U360 sometime if I will be able to re-use the same spot.

Thanks for the info!

I recently ordered a u360 and I am currently awaiting its arrival. In my panel now, I have one magstick and one t-stick. They are good for the ability to switch from 4-way to 8-way on the fly. I got used to them but I do not like the square restrictor in 8 way mode. Makes playing certain games frustrating to play, especially sports games on console emulators. Pushing up sometimes sends you to a corner which results in up and right or up and left.
I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical.

If you're serious about fighters, I'd highly recommend a Sanwa JLF for your joystick.  It will be a little different than what you're use to from the arcades, but they're incredibly tight and precise.

If you want help on this forum then learn to use the spell checker. It's built into the forum software and it doesn't cost anything to use it.

By "similer" I can only assume you mean similar and it's Joysticks not "josticks". I'm also having to guess that by "tought" you meant to say thought.  Also PLEASE!! STOP USING TXT SPEAK.... U is not the same as You,  CUZ is not the same as Because.

Just for good measure, when ever you use the first person singular "I", including in the contracted word "I'm" it requires a capital letter.

PLEASE stop mangling the English Language.

Other than that.... Yes the Happ Competition sticks are very good and have a reasonable throw distance. You might also want to consider Sanwa sticks, or for bit more money the U360 sticks, which will give you more options later on.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Thank you all for for your comments.

And sorry about the spell thing. Since English isn't my language and in fact I've never learned it in school it's normal that I doesn't speak it without making mistakes. Next time I'll use the spell checker.

The U360's are a good bet, if you can spare the extra cash.

They are extremely versatile, mappable from anything from a 2 way joystick, right up to a full analogue stick.

Regarding U360 plug in's ... in addition to Fatfingers's MaLa plug-in, there's also a GameEx plug in available.

The U360's in standard form are too soft. I would recommend the Happ P360's. I have both, and if you're after primarily fighter games, I think the P360 is better suited. However, the U360 from Ultimarc is a better all around stick...

FYI - we don't have a plugin for the U360 in AtomicFE yet, however there is a workaround if you really want to use it.

Well I've read a lot of post about Joysticks and i think that the U360 could be the one i need.
I've a few questions before i really order them. I hope you can help me guys.

1, Am I wrong or there is really no need for an I-PAC if I use two U360 Joysticks and 16 pushbuttons (happ competition) ? I've read on the main site of ultimarc that on Input mode it allows connection of up to 8 buttons per joystick. Did somebody tried this before ? Is it as good as an I-PAC ?

2, Can somebody tell me which spring is the default nowadays ? The light or the medium ? As I see only the hard spring can be chosen optionally. I'm afraid a bit because a lot of people telling that with the hard spring it's almost impossible to play and the light ones are not the best for the fighter games.

3, One thing is sure. I'll need a restrictor for the games I like but I need an advice here too. Shall I take the 4-8way or the octagonal restrictor ? As i wrote earlier I'm playing almost only versus and beatemups.

Than you for your help !

The U360's function as gamepad devices, so yes, you could do without a key encoder (eg, I-PAC), if you are satisfied with 8 buttons per stick, with no additional admin. buttons (although you could still utilise admin. functions through the "shift button" functionality of the U360).

To connect the 8 buttons to the U360, you'll need to purchase an optional wiring harness for each stick (or do your own wiring, but you may as well make your life easy and purchase the harness).

With regards to restrictors ...

If you are seriously considering a 4-8 way restrictor, then think again about whether the U360's are really best suited for your needs.  The whole advantage of these sticks is their ability to map from a 2 way stick right up to a full analogue stick.  But if you use that restrictor, you'll never be able to use it in that fashion, so it defeats the whole purpose of the stick.

If you're serious about fighters, I'd highly recommend a Sanwa JLF for your joystick.

No doubt.  Add an octagonal restrictor plate and you're golden.

Thx for the advice. Can you please tell me were I can buy Sanwa sticks online ?  I would like to check the prices.  I'm in the EU but a US Shop is also welcome.

I've searched the forum with the keyword Sanwa JLF and its seems that most of the people saying that it's one of the best for the fighter games. I think that's enough for me to buy two of them. But I need to buy bat top too because I've never liked the ball top  ;D And as a restrictor shall i take the octagonal ?
And an important question. That Joystick requires an I-PAC too right ? Plese help me here guys.

Some prefer the octo, some like the square. I would say stay with the octo, if it doesn't work you can get another. You will need an encoder to wire the sticks up. Keywiz (groovygamergear.com) or ipac (ultimarc.com) Both get the same thing done. One is in the us, one in the uk (however, I hear the shipping is still really fast)

Lizardlick has sanwa's with bat tops.

I only have experience with the Magstick Plus, and the Happ Competitions.

MagStik Plus:  The convenience of switching from 4-way to 8-way is very nice, indeed.  It has an extremely short throw, and doesn't feel as "arcade" as I had anticipated.  But I've since gotten used to it.  As far as magnetic centering...heck, I can't really feel a difference in that and spring.

Happ Comps:  Love 'em.  I mounted them into 3/4" plywood without routing, and for me (i'm of a smaller stature), it's the perfect height.  I also really like the throw and amount of spring resistance they offer (not too much, not too little).
