PCI Radio Transmitter. Anyone using one?
« on: January 22, 2008, 08:20:47 am »
I would like to incorporate a radio transmitter into my jukebox.  I need something that will have about a 100ft range.   I've only been able to find 1 card so far and it was $200+, which is way too much.

I was wondering if anyone else here has put a radio transmitter in their jukebox.  If so, what type did you put in (pci, usb) and how good was your range?

thnx

I just bought one of these and also bought a USB cable for it and it works fine for me ......

I have not enclosed it inside the jukebox cabinet (with the computer) yet, but I have tested out of the cabinet and it seems to work fine enough for me.

Not sure on the maximum range, but I have it connected to my house computer and can listen to the radio out in my garage which is about 45 feet away ......

Not bad.  I wonder how weak the signal will be once it's enclosed in the cabinet?  I think that this may require more research to see if there is a way to mod the antenna to increase the range.   I ran across a review for a simular model to the one that you posted and it was talking about the comparison between that on and the Belkin and it also briefly stated something about modding it.

Anyway, this will definately be something that I would like to include in the final build.

Oh.

No-one really reads these threads anyway..  Producing anything arcade-related must equal reinventing the wheel? Eh?

HCF!

unclet ..nice transmitter .. Cheapo ..and worth every penny ;)

That transmitter works nicely from at least 7 meters (about 21 feet..) away from the receiver from inside a jukebox.. and it really works better than I ever imagined! Sorry, haven't tried from farther away. Still..

On the air tonight..

Actually, I have read your thread.   Nice box by the way  :)

I'm looking for something that has a stronger signal than the small transmitters.  My juke will be down in the basement and I want to be able to tune in from outside by the pool during the summer.   As well, I would like to be able to wear headphones while mowing grass and working around the house.

I'm still searching.   I'll post what I find on out-of-the-box items as well as any mods that I run across.
