If I had room left at the ranch (hell even in my mom's garage) I would be all over this.

DRAT! I live in New England, but nowhere near Hartford.... (Why do I love/hate living in Maine? Maybe because Maine sounds a lot like MAME :P)

Ooh, hope I didn't miss it.  I've been trying to find an empty cab locally for a few weeks now and always seem to JUST MISS anything that's available.

Something like 50 (but only two dozen left when I saw the ad) free non-working arcade machines. He didn't mention any specific titles and made it clear that there were no pinball machines. He was pretty eager to get rid of them, since he even mentioned the valuable copper inside the wiring of the machines, that people could sell if they wanted to strip the insulation from them, lol. He also made it clear that picking for parts wasn't an option; you had to take entire machines or take nothing.

It also said at the bottom that he was down to 2 dozen cabinets at the most.

I'd emailed him to see what was left, but never got an answer.  I'm curious what there was.

I live in Dexter. There are at least two other people I've seen post on this forum from Maine as well.

Yeah he is; I've been to his shop several times over the past year or two.

I used to play games that he had on location in the Airport Mall in Bangor back before I knew who he was—about 7 years ago. He had a Punch-Out in there which made my day the first time I walked in. I hadn't seen one on location (or anywhere else for that matter) since the '80s and Punch-Out and Super Punch-Out are my all-time favorite games.

I also had a friend at the time that loved Asteroids; and he had an Asteroids machine in there too. My friend couldn't believe it. That was a great place—lots of classics.

Wow I'n in Maine too, but barely, down here in York.

I was in York once, in 5th or 6th grade ('85 or '86) on a school trip to an amusement park down there. One ride I remember in particular was called "The Super Fast Jaguar". You sat in one of a series of cars that were connected to a central hub via spokes, and the thing went around in a circle as well as going up and down peaks and valleys at a claimed speed of 60 MPH. I loved that ride. I don't remember the name of the place—I wonder if it's still around.

York's Wild Kingdom?

Yes, that's it! I'd forgotten about the zoo part of it because me and my cousin spent most of the time on the "Super Fast Jaguar" and the bumper cars. You didn't have to pay for anything there besides the price of admission. They also had a ride called "The Turkish Twist" that I went on a few times, it was like a big washing machine on a spin cycle. The centrifugal force planted you against the rubber wall of it. Then someone puked on the ride and they closed it for a while (not while I was on it fortunately).

They have a Turkish Twist at Canobie Lake Park in NH, too... it has been there at least as far back as the 80s.

If you are ever in York, head on over to "Fun-O-Rama" at short sands.
They have some classics games still there.

Then go across the strete to the Goldenrod and watch taffy being made.
It's a great little area to walk around in the summer.
Half of the people you meet are below average.

Ok, so to the original poster, THANK YOU!!!!!

I got a Golden Tee 2005 machine, in near PERFECT condition (one broken board, where the speaker panel is) for FREE.  It's huge, I love it, it will be my new mame machine within a week.

You ROCK :-D

"The County", lol.

Translation (for the flatlanders): Aroostook.

BTW, since there are a few Mainers on this thread, have you folks heard the song they use for the "Gritty's" commercial (Mister Man by Eben - link)?

Wow! COOL! I was class of '98 at MDIHS! And why would you want to live in potato land now? isnt that more like a downgrade from MDI? (ala giving up your coach seat for being duct taped to the wing?)

Edit: And maxim, have never heard a rap about Mainers!  :laugh2:  I dont think anyone from "away" will even get about half of that stuff in it! Kuddos!
