Well, it's TL lights and sometimes incandescent light bulbs (which I don't recommend) in the rest of the world, so why would it be any different in the UK ?

Cause the UK rocks! Dont get the hump Level42, considering that there have been LED marquee lighting products anounced on the forum and cold cathode options. There was no need for such an "arsey" response.

Perhaps someone else out there in the UK carries something similar?

Maybe I should have phrased my original question a little better. I was looking for UK equivalents and where they are stocked if they were not 12 V items as we we run a slighly different voltage system in this country ;) . I wanted to know if people were using special  marquee lights or something else I could cobble together from more common light fittings

Ps thanks for bumping my topic twice Level42 . I would thank you for your response but ............. :)

The origional one in my jamma cab kept blowing the tubes so in the end i robbed the one off my old wall display cabinet  works well but the marquee on my machine isnt in brilliant condition but if your running it off a pc try some of the above.

Measure the amount of space you have and pop down to B&Q,Homebase, Focus etc and see what they have in stock....

Maybe a single 18w fluorescent fitting or a double, depending on how bright you want it.....

Hold on.....

*Unscrews marquee holder*

My Sega cab has a single 15w tube.....

Are you using a standard power supply in a PC?  Wouldn't that still be 12v?  Even though the power supply on the other end would be switched to 220 it should not matter internally.  If so it would be a snap to install an LED light from GGG.

Nip over to Maplin and get a 6" Cold Cathode tube for £5.99 and then hook it up to a spare molex in your PC.

Nice and bright and won't break the bank.

Wouldn't that be a bit small? The standard size for a marquee is normally 24", isn't it?

They are very bright, but I guess you can double up to even the light, still cheap and very bright without the heat.  There are other sizes.

You can pick up cold cathode tubes for pc modders quite cheap on ebay ( I bought a kit with 2 tubes in not so long ago which came with a switch to turn them on/off ) - they seemed adequate to light a marquee and if you want you could get different colours for different effects...

I went the cold cathode route. Buy them from ebuyer though, found that most of the ones you see on ebay are the same make. Payed £3 for 4 12" cold cathode tubes and inverters from there.

I use the cold cathodes to back light my juke, they are very bright and easy to set up running off the PC Power supply.

Uh, don't you need an inverter for cold-cathode ? I guess putting a CC tube directly to 12V will give some fireworks.

Waveryder, that's very cheap. Got a name/handle of that seller ?

Level42....For cold cathodes ebuyer.com. All that stock on ebay comes from there and they are a hell of a lot cheaper.
