I have an old MS sidewinder 3d pro joystick (game port style) that has been collecting dust for years. With the swappable control panels that I'm building right now, I figured this would make an excellent panel for games that need an analog joystick (and I hope a reasonable substitute for yokes, the paperboy handlebars, and games that need a button on the joystick like tron even though it would have to emulate an 8 way stick).
I'm searching the net and this forum a bit hoping to find some info on building this into a control panel (surely someone has done this) but coming up pretty dry. I took mine apart, hoping that I could remove the case for easy mounting, but no such luck. The contoured top is integral with the joystick socket. So I think I'll have to leave it stock and creatively come up with a way to mount it to the underside of my panel.
So I'm wondering... is anyone using a sidewinder 3d pro with mame? Do you like it? And does anyone have it integrated into their cabinet's control panel? Any tips, pictures, etc.?
Any thoughts or urls on the subject would be appreciated.
I'm cross-posting to AGM, so I'll try to keep any interesting feedback sync'ed between both places.
