Mini Bartop Collection
« on: January 17, 2008, 08:24:52 pm »
Here's a project I started on and threw together a couple of years ago and then relegated to my pile of half completed projects. Just unpacked them after a move and will hopefully get them at least playable soon.

The blue unit is going to be a Super Mario Bros. theme, with a clone NES inside.

The green unit is going to get Frogger treatment and run the "TV Games" style Frogger handheld electronics.

I haven't decided what the white unit will be at this point.

All three will have 5" LCD screens; so far I only have one, from a Gamecube add-on monitor. I don't really know what I'm going to use for controls yet. There seem to be some decent options for small buttons, but I've not seen a small joystick I'd be happy with.

Obviously the intent is more for show than go with these, but I'd still like them to be relatively playable.

They're 13" tall, 8" wide and 8" deep. I guess they're more "desktop" than "bartop."

perhaps you should use a have a custom shaft machined for an existing stick.

or use a ball top with no ball on it and put some sort of sleeve over it.... and under mount the thing.

there are some 'mini' sticks out there but not sure how good any of them would feel as your main stick.

or you could be a total tough guy and fabricate your own leaf switch sticks.

Bartops, Superunknown, and Starcraft? This is already my favorite thread and you haven't even done anything yet!  ;D

Those bartops are sweet. I'd love to get some plans and build one of my own just for giggles mainly.

Your bar must be hella-long!

They look great, and will be a nice addition to the others.
