Need programming help with IPAC4
« on: January 17, 2008, 02:17:27 pm »
Hi, I'm new here. I did some searching but could not find the information I was looking for.

I'm near completion (hopefully) of my 1st Mame cabinet. I made the Ultimate II using Mameroom plans and purchased is 4 player controller board (button for every key 1-8 for all 4 players). My IPAC4 is from 2002. It is the old version with the Mame/ALt jumper. I verified all the Mame default keys are working. I want to program it using the legacy windows software from Ultimarc. The extra buttons 7, 8 for most players will be Enter, Esc, Tab, Volume. Etc.

On to my questions
1. Does anybody have a key mapping for all the buttons I could use? Possibly send me a config file I could load into the programmer and just change a few keys if necessary.

2. I cannot get the default Mame Shift functions to work. Anybody know why, maybe not supported on this old board.

3. After I program the controller, I think I need to go into the Mame application and set all the player controls to match what I programmed on the encoder. Is this correct?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

1) Without seeing your panel and buttons, it's hard to know if anyone has a config even close to yours. It only takes a few minutes with the layout designer, so just knock one up yourself.

2) I found the shift function on newer ipacs to be a little iffy and never use them, so I wouldn't know about the old boards.

3) Yes.
