Problems getting Blitz to run at all.
« on: January 17, 2008, 11:24:25 am »
Hey guys. A newbie here. I've just started building my cab. So when I am not working on the cab I am working on the computer that will go in the cab. The computer is a P4 1400 mhz 1.38 ghz with 384MB of Ram. I am running Mamewah as my front end and Mame 1.22.

Now for the fun part. I cannot get Blitz 99 or Blitz 2k to run. I have both the roms and the chd files. The chd files are in folders called blitz99 and blitz2k respectively. When I try to run the games in Mamewah the screen goes black for about 20 seconds or so then goes back to the Mamewah screen. I have checked my roms and chd files in clmrmamepro and I didn't receive any errors for Blitz 99 or Blitz 2k.

Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

What are the minimum system requirements to run Blitz?

If you want a version of Blitz to run.  Get an N64 emulator and run a n64 version of blitz.  Chances are it will work on your computer with a good framerate.

I'll second this advice. My computer will run blitz....but very sllllooooowwww. I tried the n64 version using Project 64 and it runs great.

I think you have a separate issue other than just not being fast enough to run. Even the slowest computer will 'run' blitz at some speed. The fact that it is jumping back into mamewah is indicative of another issue. What I would do to see exactly what is happening is run mame from a dos prompt....just go to the mame directory and type mame blitz....when it errors out it will tell you why...

edit...as a side note, I have the PC version of blitz 2000 on my cab with a bat file that remaps the pc keys to make the game 100% percent cab friendly. Just an option if you want to play blitz on a cab but don't have the fastest liquid cooled nuclear reactor quad core space age overclocked pc.

Yep, but I think when he found out his computer would run it too slowly, he wasn't interested in fixing the initial problem.

I am always interested in fixing the problem.  :) I will give it a try later and see what Mame says, because at some point I will be using a faster computer. But it sounds like I will be using a N64 emulator in the mean time. Thanks guys!
