IPac2 or KE72 Encoder?
« on: May 16, 2003, 12:20:25 am »
I keep hearing great things about both these keyboard encoders.
Will it make much difference which one I go with for my mame cab, price isn't an issue ( at least for this part of the project lol ).

Sorry in advance if this has been done --BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type--, maybe someone could point me to the thread if it has. Thanks.

Or KeyWiz.  The IPAC and KeyhWiz are easier to use and easy to program.  The shift buttons come in handy.

i've been using a keywiz for a few weeks now and love it. the way it allows you to program your controls for each individual application your using (emulator/pc game....) and then launch them from the keywiz software is very nice. i didn't understand exactly how useful this was until i installed and used it. it also has a more inputs, a dedicated shift key that doesn't take away an input, and is cheaper than ipac. if you don't care about lighted buttons, imho, it beats it hands down. ymmv tho.
not to say that the ipac isn't solid. it's a proven product, with many satisfied customers. also the cool led output. your not going to go wrong either way.

Cost is an issue (or it isnt  :D) the Ipac and Keywiz would be where I  would Look. I personally have a KE72T and cant say a bad thing about it (except that it coast alot). But if you dont need all those Inputs ....

any choice would be fine... keywiz (I have one and it works fine), ipac, or KE72...

You'll need to consider the number of inputs you need.

I'd also consider convenience/shipping costs (as well as product costs)  If you're gonna at some point order an optipac, ArcadeVGA, or one of ultimarc's cool sticks group them in one order to save on shipping and get an ipac as your encoder.

*shrug* ymmv (but if i don't pay for your gas, what do I care what your mileage is?)

MK64 is GREAT!

It also now has direct support for a ton of things (Rotary joysticks, macros, multiple config banks)

Take a quick look!

I use the KE72 and I have no complaints about it, except for the steep price.
