Electric Ice Buttons and Ice T Trackball illumination questions
« on: January 14, 2008, 01:58:56 pm »
So I purchased 4 electric ice buttons and one Ice-T Trackball.

My original concept was to use the 4 buttons for the "coin buttons", each a different color to match each player (4 players total) - Blue, Red, Green and Yellow. (see panel mock-up below).  The trackball would cycle between all 4 colors, as would the illuminated joystick from Slikstik (4 way joy pictured as red in the pic below).  The Slikstik will cycle colors independantly, so that will not be an issue.  The Trackball will need to be connected to a LED wiz, but for now I will probably connect it directly for the blue color until I purchase the LED wiz.

On Groovy Game Gear's Website the following instructions are noted:
Wiring the RGB OverDrive™ lighting module:

There are 4 wires connected to the lighting module. The one marked with red is to be connected to a 5v DC power source. The other wires, in order following the 5v wire are Blue, Green and Red control lines. If you own an LED-Wiz™, these would be connected to 3 outputs of your choosing. Otherwise, to hard wire a specific color, just attach the desired colors control line to ground. This can be done in any combination you desire to achieve one of 7 colors, or small resistors can be added in series to create any color desired.

My question is:  How do I make the yellow button color without having to buy the LED wiz right away?

Thanks for your help with this.

This is unrelated to your question, but very pertinent to you control panel.  Your layout is fairly close to mine.  Unless you have a tilted panel, you will want to move the buttons on the 4-way, out and away from the 4-way.  As you have it now, the P1 joysticks will be in your way.

Yes, it is a tilted panel.  It's a monster at 48" long and 21" deep!  It appears smaller in the picture, but it's actually very roomy.  Thanks for the tip!
