Music Video Clips - unique
« on: January 14, 2008, 05:03:34 am »
Hi all,

I'm thinking of adding a video jukebox capability to my cabinet and was looking for a few more reasons to convince myself. So I'm after your favourite video clips, ones that were somehow unique, that really grabbed your attention. They can be funny, thought provoking, morbid, hypnotic or just plain freakin weird.
Ones that I've come up with so far are
Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity.
OK Go - Here it goes again.
Cake - Short Skirt.
Michael Jackson - Black or White.
I'm sure you get the idea. Any personal favs?
Cheers.

Herbie Hancock - Rock it (I think that's  the name)
Dire Straits - Money for nothing.
Art of noise  - Forget the name, but they go around smashing ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- with hammers. Always good fun.

Basement Jaxx - Where's Your Head At? (heads on monkeys)
Beastie Boys - Sabotage (70's style polica drama)
The Bees - Chicken Payback (playing Dance Dance Revolution)
Benny Benassi - Satifaction (hot chicks with power tools, get the adult version, it contains porn)
Brainbug - Nightmare (classic horror movie)
DB Boulevard - Point of View (everything is made of cardboard)
Etienne De Crecy - Am I Wrong (cool cartoon)
Just about any Fatboy Slim clip
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer, Digging in the Dirt (good effects)
Incubus - Drive (artist draws clip)
Chris Issak - Wicked Game (hot chick on beach)
Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity (call dancing on moving floor)
Jet - Cold Hard Bitchh (I like that they are on a Pinball Machine backglass)

Cake - Short Skirt.

LOL  Love Cake!

How about:
Motley Crue - Too Young to fall in love
for pure 80's goofy dystopia with ninja moves.  Kind of Blade Runner meets... uh... Motley Crue

Don Henley - Boys of Summer
I always dug this video.  B/W stylized.. Would be a nice pairing with "Wicked Game"

A-Ha - Take on Me
Not really a favorite of mine, but it did have that real life to cartoon thing going on

Van Halen - Hot For Teacher
A classic, sexy, and kind of a funny video with midget versions of the band (or maybe they were just kids)

And on that note, how about
Van Halen - Right Now
where they did that cool text stuff.  I think this was made by an advertising agency, but I really liked it.

Gary Numan - cars
If you're into techno and old skool MTV, this is one of many minimalist vid from those early days.  Has some great compositing effects, watch for the tambourine! :)

And I'll wrap it up with Devo - Whip It, for a humorous diversion

Got It.
Love It.
Dance It.
Smooth Criminal is another personal fave. I used to like BAD! but then Weird Al went and did it 10x better.

And on that note, how about Van Halen - Right Now where they did that cool text stuff.

Another excellent clip. Although now I prefer an anime version done by doki doki productions. Same concept, very similar text, but all video is taken from anime movies and TV series. Pure genius.

They don't have too many videos available, but no jukebox is complete without The Verlaines. This is "Pyromaniac" from their 1984 EP "10 O'Clock in the Afternoon."

Begged for consolation and I got none, I haven't the motivation to get myself a gun
Looked for an answer in empty doorways, talked to a dancer said its out of our? ways,
Well, here I am in the big city, I got not heart and I got no pity
Can't you see I'm on the run, can't you see I not having any fun.

Chorus

Anything could happen and it could be right now, and the choice is yours, to/so make it worthwhile (x2)

Went to a Dr, said I work so hard, with a smile on his face pointed me to a junkyard, Looked for an answer in empty doorways, talked to a dancer said its out of our? ways,
Well come on Dr, won't you give me a shot, I'm feeling cold boy, I'm feeling hot,
Dr said no boy, you gotta learn, first don't shootup, and then miss? your turn.

Chorus
Anything could happen and it could be right now, and the choice is yours, to/so make it worthwhile (x2)
