Two Player config in a Ms. Pacman Cab
« on: January 07, 2008, 05:54:17 pm »
Title says it all.  Do you guys think it would be possible to do a two player configuration?  Or would the control area be too cramped?  Im thinking one joystick and 6 buttons per player.  and of course the p1, p2, coin1, and coin2.

I dont have the cab yet so i cant really make any measurements.  From pictures, it looks like its doable.   I want a trackball  but i dont think there is enough room for one.  not even the smaller sized.

When you get the cab....you'll understand. There is no way that small CP will fit a 6 button 2P configuration and afford a comfortable experience with your buddy.  ;D

yeah ive been looking at pictures and trying to find dimensions.  it just looks to small.  i guess i never realized how small(width wise) Ms Pacman is.  Well i guess the last time i played one, was when i was younger.

its sounding like its just easier for me to build my own.

Careful, you may end up with something like this if you try squeezing everything on it:

I think mine works well; I was inspired by Doug Hansen's build here:

I think there is plenty of room if Ms. Pac Man is the same width cab as Rally-X.

I have a galaxian (relatively same style cab) and if you want a trackball, forget about buttons for player two.  I went with something like this .  My decision was make after mocking up some controls and standing in front of the cab with that mockup.  It's the sides of the cab which make squeezing in tough, and I can see why in a super pac cab where the side are cut out, it probably works better along with the front extension.

With a trackball, it's really tight.  You have 23" wide to get everything in.  Deeper, like the SuperPac pic above look OK, but the joystick and buttons seem pretty far from the front of the panel.  Here's a picture of what you may be looking for on a 'fabled white Galaga' cab.  We make these all the time for customers.

Best,
