Mala video preivew slowdown
« on: January 05, 2008, 01:34:57 am »
Hello.

I am running the Emumovies video previews on Mala and they don't run full speed.
If I run the same video outside of Mala, it runs perfeclty fine.
Could I have some configuration problem or is Mala combined with the video previews a bit too much for my PIII 800MHz 512MB?

Thanks.

Are you using the new MAME set and if so are they the HiQ or SQ videos?

A Pentium III 800MHz 512mb ram should be good enough to play most classics.  While a nice video card doesn't help mame as much as modern games, a bad gfx card can slow you down for something like video playback.

what are you running for video?

Xvid Codec. Don't use Divx

Yes.  I'm definitely lacking in the video card department.  I have integrated nVidia Vanta something.
I have a couple of older cards I can try but nothing too fancy.
I was hopeful it would work OK because the videos run fine outside of Mala.
I am using the latest xvid codec.

I just ran into the exact same problem today with the HiQ video set. They play fine and full screen outside of Mala, but once in Mala, they are running half the speed. I also have the lower quality videos that will play full speed in Mala though. It's a 1.10Ghz Athlon XP machine. I only have the latest Xvid codec installed. Not sure what else to do besides switch out video cards.
