New to all this, control question
« on: January 04, 2008, 10:39:51 pm »
I've wanted my own arcade game since I was like 10... I'm now 30.  In all this time I don't know why I never thought of building my own.  Anyway... I've got everything I need done for the time, except my controls.  I intend to buy an X-Arcade Dual for my Arcade Cabinet with the console games inside, but a side project I'm working on is to build a computer desk out of a cab.  I was wondering if anyone knows anyway to take the controls I already have for my PC (Both are 10 Button USB Controls) and hook up authentic arcade controls to them so I can design the look of my own Control Board?

I would be indebted for life to someone if they could help me figure out a way to do this.  It seems like it should be easy, I just lack the knowledge to figure it out...

You're going to find it difficult to do hacks if you're a newbie - you're looking at one of the more complex ways to do it.

Here's a newbie's guide in one line:
Get an old PC, get some games, get an old cabinet, get an i-pac, plug it all in.

If none of that makes sense, google -pac and your world will open out from there. Either that, or buy the Project Arcade book and have an extended sit own on the toilet - you'll be there a while!
