U360 problem
« on: January 03, 2008, 04:41:49 am »
I just got my U360 up and running and I have a problem that I imagine it easy to solve.

It seems that in all modes the joystick is expecting me to return the joystick to the center position before I change direction. Like I cant just flow from up to right or whatever without returning to center.  Otherwise the positioning gets messed up.

Help?

You can try to Go Into Windows control panel and try testing there and if everything seems ok there then re-install UltraMap and reconfigure them again and see what happens.

What version of firmware are you using?

Considering I bought it like 2 days after it came out and it's been sitting in a box ever since...

The original firmware.

Where can I find the updated one?  I can't find it on Ultimarcs site.

Thanks

It's included with the latest version of the UltraMap Software.  I recall what you are describing as a bug that the firmware upgrade fixed.  Be aware that there is a warning on the Ultimarc website if your version is too old and when you install the new firmware it adds Mouse support which IIRC correctly Ultimarc may of had some special instructions for that.

Try to re-assign the stick ID to like #2 and then back to #1. Sometimes that works.

Are you sure it is not showing up?
Does it show up anywhere in Device Manager?

With the update between versions like yours, you may have to(should) go into Device manager, show all devices including hidden, and remove all references to the Ultrastik.  Then replug the device in.

Or email Andy and have him help you.

I misread where he said if you have 102 or under, email him for the proper firmware file.  I read it as under 102.

I had 102 so by updating with that firmware I screwed it up.

Andy's on vacation.

Bummer.

I got it working again by uninstalling and reinstalling it through device manager.

Does anyone have the proper firmware file update for 102 and earlier U360's?

You are assuming that the firmware file is the problem.  I wouldn't make that assumption and would wait for Andy, but I don't know what the problem is either.
