And yet more analog questions...
« on: May 14, 2003, 01:15:51 am »
Which MAME games would benefit from an analog joystick?  Has a list been published anywhere?

Here's a 150 game (clones included), unchecked list.  It includes all games that mame driver say use an "AD Stick", which includes analog sticks, 270 degree steering wheels, pedals, a few 49 way games, Hall Effect game, and snap sticks for baseball & football games.  A plain analog joystick will help on all but the last group.

And here's a 55 game (clones included), unchecked list of games mame's drivers say use "Paddle", which was a 270 degree steering wheel in the arcade machine, usually.  An Analog stick will do fine with these games, too, but usually a steering wheel set will do better.

I am going to narrow that list down a bit. This is still not going to be a final list. But I am just pulling the obvious errors and clones out, and making notes by a few games. This is all from memory, because I don't have a Mame install at work. Anybody with some more info feel free to keep working on this list.

Thanks, I think. ;)

Here's a tab delimited list of all inputs of all games in mame 0.67 as declared by the drivers:
http://www.urebelscum.speedhost.com/dl/inputinfo.zip

Drivers might be wrong, and the list includes hacked inputs and cheat inputs.  I try to upload a list like this every other version of mame or so.

Thanks, U_Rebelscum & Paigeoliver!!!  From memory...unbelievable!!!!!!!!

You're welcome.

He did it from memory; I cheated (see link above).
