Arcade/gameroom related Christmas Presents
« on: December 25, 2007, 02:44:26 pm »
Post your Arcade and gameroom related presents here. Once upon a time, I showed my wife a game shadow box. She apparently logged that info away and made me one for Christmas - only hers was way better than the picture I showed her! The attached pic is below. I can't wait to get the gameroom set up and get this baby on the wall.

Oh, and I also got Guitar Hero 3 and two guitars (I actually think the wife wanted this more than me  ;) )

My wife surprised me with a U360!  She ordered it from the Ultimarc website herself.  It was quite a nice surpise.  I messed around with it a little today.  What a difference.  I'd not used Mame with anything other than a keyboard as yet.  Now I am ready to get started on my cab.

Your wife did a real nice job with the shadowbox.  My wife made something simliar years ago but we loaned it to a friend and it was never returned.  Good idea for a game room wall.

My better half suprised me with a wireless guitar hero controller GH3 and a "gaming rocker chair" tripped out with blue LED's. Christmas and wives RULE!

Ditto on the GH3 from the wife! Plus two wireless guitars, so my two teenage sons and I can play - I usually get relegated to bass (and even then I can only do medium  ::)).

It's kinda tough for my wife since I'm a professional game reviewer (I have most everything already), but she did manage to find a few gaming-related things I hadn't picked up or been given for review. She found me:

-Namco Arcade Collection DS
-Ratchet & Clank (PS3)
-Assassin's Creed (360)
-Zak & Wiki (Wii)

The Namco games are fun, but obviously they're much better on the MAME. Still, it's nice to be able to play some Mappy or other games while on the go. Pac-Man Vs. being wireless pretty much justifies the entire package itself.

Nothing for me specifically, but there was a Wii under the tree along with Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Mario Party 8, Wii Play, a nunchuk, a 2gb SD card, and a USB/NIC adapter for a hardwired connection.  Of course, I bought them all except Mario Party 8, which my brother in law bought for the kids at my suggestion.

Nice!

Super Mario Galaxy was my personal game of the year. It's just soooooo much fun.

I got a power drill which will be used to build a cabinet, so technically that's a gameroom related item.  ;D  I then went out and got me a plunge router, a bit for it, and a jigsaw.  By the time I go back to work I'll have everything ready minus the I-Pac.   :applaud:

I got a matched pair of 160 gig hard drives and a dual layer dvd burner, and a rocket pops metal wall sign.

on another note I helped one of my wifes co-workers build a 5 foot long recycling center for her parents as a christmas gift, and was left the remains of 3 sheets of sanded one side plywood and a kerosene heater for the workshop.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!

-3" trackball and mounting plate from Happ (BOOYA!)

-Ultimarc Optipac

-And i got two happ competition joysticks with enough buttons for a "street fighter' setup...

-I got a $75 gift card from my uncle, $50 from grandma, and a $10 lowes gift card from the in-laws.  I think i might combine these funds to purchase a decent router, so that I may do my OWN arcade work, instead of borrowing from people.

Bought myself the Xbox 360 Ace Combat with flight controller combo from Amazon (getting hard to find).  Saw a game demo at Walmart and the graphics really hooked me in.  Then read that the controller would work on PCs, so will mount it on wood for pop-on Mame cab use

The boys of the family got RockStar for the 360 and I got a rotary sander. No more sanding entire cab sides by hand for me!
