Sanwa 4/8 way help
« on: December 24, 2007, 05:08:25 pm »
How do I switch my Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT into 4-way mode?  Is it the restrictor plate or actuator that needs to be flipped?

There are two screws holding the restrictor plate...loosen them and then rotate the plate 90 deg. then tighten the screws.

if it were a JLW he could loosen the screws and rotate but it is not a JLW.

He has a JLF

1. pinch the black tabs from the stick body that go thru the clear restrictor plate
2. remove the restrictor plate
3. The restrictor plate is actually made up of two plastic circles
4. push the center circle out a little and turn the center circle using the two prongs
5. the center circle will rotate 45 degrees and then snap into place
6. re-install the restrictor plate by snapping it back on the stick's black tabs

-no tools required.

JLW is great stick for 4way games but JLF sucks
JLF in 4way mode still registered diagonals.

it turns similarly to sticking octagonal

this is very fragile - be careful.

I use JLW in my cabinet set to 4-way mode only

I had to open a JLF on my desk to write the above tutorial because I had never tried putting a JLF into 4-way mode before.

This is because the JLF is one of the best 8-way sticks.  ;D

Thanks!  and   Crap!

The tutorials were perfect, unfortunately so was the fact that a JLF still registers diagonals even in 4-way.  I love the throw and spring tension on the JLF, what's the throw and tension like on a JLW?

Thats a question for the pros (Kowal)

The JLW, to me, appears more loose and sloppy but then I only use it for Ms Pac.   8)
