Anyone besides Mike's Arcade repair DK boards?
« on: December 10, 2007, 03:44:13 pm »
I have sent messages to Mike's Arcade asking for a quote and other specifics and I can't seem to get a response.

I have the 4-board DK pcb that apparently has some bad video proms. Anyone else on the forum repair these boards?

PM me for more specifics if you can do the repairs.

Could you post some screenshots or explain the exact symptoms?

I wish I could get more pics but this is the only one I have of it:

Notice the all the blue. Also if you look closely their is "boxing" around Jump Man's head and the barrels...etc. It is also doing this on the opening screen.

It looks a lot like this shot from brasington.com:

The Intro Screen looks like this:

And the HiScore screen looks exactly like this:

If the issue is what the site says
then it should be an easy fix
that site has helped me fix many dk boards.
if its not the prom then at least you know where to look etc

reminds me I need to order some proms lol

What you could try before getting new proms is to remove the suspect proms, clean the contacts and reseat them.

Wundercade,

Which ROMs are the bad ones?  I probably have replacements.

If you want, I can trade you (good for bad and I can have the bad reprogrammed).
My projects...

Finished:  Stargate (only 'cause I got it that way)
In progress:  Tron, 48-in-1 for School Auction, DKJr (currently a 60-in-1), Millipede, MAME System

The proms are one shot and can't be reprogrammed.

Looks to me like either 5H or 5K is bad on the video board. (on the 4 board set)  These are 2716 eproms.

Best,
