Button registering on Release instead of on Press
« on: December 23, 2007, 11:45:03 pm »
OK, I'm stumped.

I have my CP all plugged in and everything works fine except for one button.  One this one button, it doesn't register as a press until I LET GO of the button and not when I PRESS the button.

What would cause this?

It has the same cherry switch as all my other buttons and it's wired up exactly the same in the NO port and then daisy chained to the ground on the other plug, just like the ones right next to it.

I have an IPAC2 and was using the Ultimarc WinIpac program to test things out and just this one button isn't working right.

Any idea what would cause it to do this?

My first guess would be that you have it set as the shift key.
If if is, it will only do shift on press, and then do its normal function on release.

Oh.  Well yeah.  I was trying to set it as the shift key but couldn't get it to work right.  That's when I noticed the pressing thing.  I'll have to go try it again.  Maybe it's working as it's supposed to.

Well you said you checked this, but the exact same thing happened to me and I had mistakenly connected the wire on the microswitch to the always closed side instead of the open side.

I found out it was working OK.  I had the shift selected as the wrong button first so then reassigned that and then it seemed OK.  I just didn't know that the shift button was shift on down and normal on release.

Thanks.
