Crusin USA and WOrld

Guys I am trying to get Cruisin World and USA to play good on my arcade.  The roms work great, but I don't have a steering wheel.  I tried using the trackball for left and right turning, and I also tried to use the spinner.  I am having the most luck with my 8 way Happ Super.  What do you guys recommend.  Also for other buttns I have a 2 player 6 button SF2 layout.  How do you guys have your buttons for the Cruisin game setup?

well, the cheat way is to an analog controller like a psx dual shock.  I don't think it's any less authentic than using a digital joystick.

You could also use an ultimarc ultrastik 360, which is also an analog stick.

What are the problems with the TB & spinner?  If it's returning to center and you don't want it to, you can go tab, analog controls, and set the Paddle Autocenter Speed to zero.  This will, however, make the 8-way a lot worse of course, so set it back to the default: the same as Paddle Digital Speed, or to your preference if it doesn't help TB/spinners for you.

That said, I agree with megaultrasuper that any analog joystick will do better than an 8-way stick, and almost as good as most PC wheels.

I really haven't changed any of the paddle controls.  My spinner is all over the place.  Trackball same.  You say autocenter.  I would like it to auto center when I stop moving the trackball or spinner.  I mean when I move between left and right on the trackball or spinner the car is constantly going offroad to the right or left.  It is crazy.

Do any of you guys have any info on what to change in the analog controls.  Also when I first boot the game up the very first try it has me do some things like moves steering wheel all thwe way elft then click enter, then it will say move it all the way right then press enter.  Does that make a dif?  Also when selecting the map to drive on when I move right or elft it cycles all the way to the bottom.  Like it wont go left and right slow enough to pick the map I want to use?

Any suggestions on what to set the paddle speeds to>?

I guess I could also play this game with my Xbox 360 wired controller.  For setting that up would I set the paddle left/right to pressing left on the joystick and then right on the joystick in the controller settings?  Also the pedal would most likely be the RT and the brake would be the LT.  The gear changes could be done with the 4 face buttons, and I guess the bumpers could be music and camera angles.

The thing is just setting the left analog stick up.  I guess if I leave the analog controls alone, and just make sure to set up the normal controls up in the game then I can do the setup at  the beginning of the game.  Meaning the thing that says turn wheel all the way left, then turn wheel all the way right that kind of nonsense.
