I'm planning on getting a 4 player Slikstik instead of building my own.  I was going to put it together with the pre cut UA II pieces from the mame room web site as soon as they go on sale.

I want to go ahead an order the Slikstik Quad, but I'm not sure about the control panel layout.  I've never seen one of these in person but from the picture it just doesn't look right.

Is it going to be comfortable to reach all the way to the top to play games with the 4 way joystick?  Can all of the "asteroids configuration" buttons be reached when playing asteroids or are they too far apart?

Slikstik will allow most layout changes for free, so I could move it if I wanted to.  Mame offeres a configuration autosetup for the Slikstik.  If I move the 4 way, where could I move it to not mess up the mame autoconfigutation?  Do you all think I should change the layout or leave it as is?

(I made a similar post to this but I believe no one responded due to the subject.)

Hello,

The 4 way is very usable on the quad panel, as well as the asteroids section. Of course the 4 way joy is further than say a real pacman machine, but then again I bet your alot bigger now than when you used to play pacman  :) If you would like to discuss this with us feel free to email info@slikstik.com, we can also put you in touch with other purchasers that you can bounce your concerns off of.

Thank You

just a quick note, i think if your thinking about makeing layout changes to the slikstik you better check with christian.    Last i knew the only freebie was the relocation of the spinner.

I have the slikstik classic with optical joysticks and i really love mine!   The only thing i would change that bugs me the most is the 4 way happs joystick in the middle.  If i would have known i could do it, i would have requested a different joystick for the 4 way.   Its the happ ultimate 4 way that comes standard and its WAY to sloppy for my taste.  Other than that, i LOVE my slikstik.   It is much bigger then you might think it looks to be.  The worst thing about the slikstik i have found ..............WHERE DO I PUT IT??? lol.  I need an arcade cabinet damnit! HEHEH.

One small comment about the "Asteroids" button layout -- the buttons really are widely spaced, especially if you use the hyperspace button a lot (which I do in Asteroids Deluxe, since it's the shield button)

If you've got wide fingers it's an okay layout, but if you're thinking of getting a custom SlikStik layout and you play Asteroids a lot I'd recommend moving the Asteroids buttons closer in together.
