Maybe this is why shooting rampages happen
« on: December 11, 2007, 10:43:06 am »

My employer seems to have turned way up the volume on the office ceiling speaker music.  They also seem to have changed it to 95% Michael Bolton and Bette Midler Christmas songs.

It'd be justifiable homicide.  No jury would convict you.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

Our musac speakers can't be turned off, so I long ago attacked all the ceiling speakers with wire cutters.  Presto- no more annoying music in our department.  President of the company happened to walk by why I was on the top of a desk, dealing with one of them, speaker in one hand, wire cutters in the other.  He asks what I'm doing.  "Turning the speaker down."  "Okay", he shrugged, and walked off.

Nah, they just complain about being depressed more around the holidays to try and make everyone else miserable.

A movie quote for every occasion, this time from 40 Year Old Virgin.

David: I gotta tell you something. I'm really excited about it. Uh, for the first time, today, I woke up, I came to the store, and I - I feel confident to say to you that if you don't take this Michael McDonald DVD - that you've been playing for two years straight - off, I'm going to kill everyone in the store and put a bullet in my brain............... If I hear "Yah Mo B There" one more time, "Yah Mo" burn this place to the ground.

Most companies just try to play music that would seem to appeal to everyone and be music that is in no way offending if a customer were to hear it or music that does not say anything inappropriate. Companies take the safe route when it comes to certain things as not to offend anyone. Although some of this music is offending in other ways.  ;D

Our building is full of Indian contractors who have no belief in Christmas.  I don't think playing endless cheeseball Christmas songs is an attempt to not offend people.  They did, however, totally homogenize all holiday decorations and took any Christmas or Hanukkah references off the print materials or holiday messages.
