Reccommend joystick and button measurements

I'm just about to cut out my button and joystick holes for my 2 player 6 buttons control panel.

I have 2 Ultimarc 360 and Happ buttons.

From what I've found, most put the buttons 1 1/2" apart vertically and horizontally.



What distance is reccommended from the centre point of the joystick to the centre point of the first set of buttons?

Hi! I can't recommend exact measurements for you, but i've recently been planning out the same thing, and i've found that the buttons just need to be at a 'comfortable' length from each other.  If your fingers can reach them all without an stress and you hardly notice the change from button to button then I think you'll be a-okay with your setup.  You don't even have to put all your buttons right next to each other in a straight line, you can create two "main buttons" and then some above or below. Anyway though I don't think you should concern yourself with measurements but rather how it feels to play with the buttons from where they are.  Try setting them up at different lengths apart and in different configurations and see how it plays out before you finalize a decision.

Totally agree.  CP size, number of controls, and size & orientation of the joystick base also force dimensions to some degree.

Some people like the joystick and buttons positioned so their arms are parallel (very wide).  Some people but the buttons as close together as the joystick base will allow (eg: 24" 2 player 6/7 button + 1 TB CPs, smaller 4 player CPs, etc).  There are posts here with templates, hmm, quick 3 with search (I didn't read 'em): #1, #2, #3.

I would advise using the Microsoft word template found here:

It's perfect for marking out drill holes in their actual size.
