Arcade Bar stool
« on: December 10, 2007, 09:10:58 pm »
Ive been looking for a good bar stool for my arcade, theres quite a few different heights available.. Anyone know the proper barstool height to get for an arcade cabinet? Or a link to the ones you have tried.

Thanks

I bought this from target about half a year ago.  Besides being quite pricey, It has worked very well for my arcade.  You can adjust its height so that has never been an issue.

I bought a pair of the same ones from Target, but in metallic black. Super slick, fit the theme of the cabinet to a tee and they support sizeable gents (245 or so). They do drop down a bit when someone heavy sits on them, but still going strong. Only 60 bucks each.

I like this one, but would prefer it was padded, and a back, I did find one that was adjustable padded seat and back but its like $160... kinda pricey.. Can you sit on that target one for 2 hours at a time or is it kind of uncomfortable since its plastic?

I use a pair of these.  They're the same as the generic stools I remember in the arcade:

http://www.happcontrols.com/amusement/acesor/26180500.htm

They sit at a height of 30".

I bought a couple saddle stools from overstock.com.  You may want to check there, I found this one that may work http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Chicago-Black-Leather-Barstool/2502525/product.html.  They are a little expensive but you get free shipping.

For those in the UK that might be interested, I bought some barstools from Focus DIY recently.  They look very similar to the ones Flip_Willie posted, with two exceptions.  The foot rest is not quite the same (it sticks out of the front of the seat and isn't as round), and the actual seat part looks like it is molded to a slightly different shape (perfectly to fit one's arse).

I always wanted the round American diner style barstools but since these were priced at 2 for £50 I couldn't refuse.  Also, they are surprisingly *very* comfortable!  The height adjustment is great when sat up to an arcade cabinet.

I have these stools to thank for me moving my cabinet to my house...they gave me the motivation!  :D  If anyone wants to see some pics of them I can take some tonight.

Anyone know of a good supplier for Z-shaped barstolls in the UK.......but the seats have got to be pink. Found a place in the states but they had a 3 month wait!

If there is a casino nearby, head over there - see what they have for seating.  If there is anyone who has perfected the art of making people comfortable sitting in front of a machine for long periods of time it is the casino operators.

I love the Target barstools. Bought them a few months ago and they've worked out very well. One of my brothers spent most of Thanksgiving sitting on one playing on my cabinet, and I know it can be comfortable for over an hour and a half at the very least (the longest nonstop sitting I've done on it).  The seat isn't what I'd call cheap plastic, either.

I bought some "retro" looking stools with a back to them for long game playing sessions, covered in blue vinyl to match my t-molding.  http://snbseating.com/retrochromeswivel.asp  This website had the cheapest prices I could find, and they actually answered my questions unlike other sites selling the same products.

I'm a drummer, so my porkpie drumthrone works wonderfully for my cocktail.

It's very padded, and the height adjusts.  Heavy duty too.

A little pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for!

This is the best place to get them if you want the highest quality possible.

http://www.dvorsons.com/Regal/Stools/BarStools.html

Scroll down about halfway to the "Regal Express" line.

They were/are the suppliers of all of the major bowling alleys, restaurants, bars and arcades througout the midwest.

Their style 1105 looks exactly identical to the one at equippers.com but it's $20 more.  hmmm.

Are you in Milwaukee? I'm over there for business every once in a blue moon (I take the hight speed ferry).... I could possibly stick it in the back seat of my car (I assumed Milwaukee since you said ferry and the only other ferry in MI goes to Mackinac Island  ;D). Let me know...

Yeah I'm west of Milwaukee.  I'm not in a place to buy now anyway but just thought it'd be funny to have someone pull up on the MI side and do a "Hey buddy, can ya take thee stools to my friend on the other side?  I'll give ya $20"

Probably get arrested because they'll think there's drugs in them or something.

But I'll keep you in mind once I get my cab finished in case we decide to pursue some stools.

Thanks.
