My UA II cab Need input
« on: December 09, 2007, 11:09:03 pm »
It’s been about 2 months since I decided to ditch my arcade cab that I built four years ago and purchase a UA II kit, side art, and custom control panel. Scott at mameroom has been fantastic to work with and helped design at monitor mounting system for my bill labs 27 inch monitor.  It’s just amazing how Scott always responds so quickly and answered all my questions and addressed my concerns.  Scott over at mame marquees has also been great in providing top notch printed artwork. All my artwork was shipped out fast and looked amazing. Lastly, Jack over at arcadesrfun.com will be creating my control panel. Jack has also been pleasure to work with and one hell of a nice guy. Jack and I have been fine tuning what is going to be a kick ass control panel. I should have it in a week or two and will post pictures once I receive it. I can honestly say it’s been great working with all three guys and if anyone needs artwork, cabinets, or control panels don’t hesitate to call these guys.

Ok Im starting to sound like a commercial. Let me get back to my question.

I just applied side and kickplate artwork to my UA II cabinet and I need some input on whether or not I should add additional artwork to the front keyboard drawer and the bottom sides of the cabinet or just leave it black? Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think.

I would leave it as it is now.  Add any more, and it will start to look too 'busy'.

That's a nice looking cab, btw.

Sexy!  I love my UA II cabinet...  such a nice design and easy to disassemble into multiple pieces if needed.

I built the UA II cabinet design as well and love it.  My original artwork was from Mame Marquees.com and I just went cheap on the artwork since I needed quickly (less then 3 days).  I'm going to be adding real smoked glass (currently has plexi), Formica on the sides, New T-Molding, and going to upgrade the PC inside this spring.   Really like the look of your cabinet.  I really like that artwork... especially the coin door area.

I would leave those areas blank as stated above...  The control panel should hang over quite a bit.  The kick plate art really adds and looks great.  I was going to do something similar, but never got around to it.  Perhaps during my revamp I will.
