Think I messed up when I installed one of my U360s (FIXED)
« on: December 07, 2007, 08:25:09 pm »
I was hurting for room, so I cut U360 mounting bracket.  Took about 1/8" off so I could mount it next to an 8-way.   Problem is, I think the magnet in the U360 is picking up the something in that 8-way.

This is tough to explain.  So let me explain the position of the sticks.

This is a SlikStik Fighter Control Panel.

I mounted a U360 to the Left of the Right 8-way.  The U360 is unable to get anywhere close to the bottom left hand corner in the joystick calibration.  By this I mean it goes from the left postion straight to the down position.  So, my problems seems to occur when the magnet is closest to my 8-way.

Am I way off of thinking this is my problem?  If this is my problem, can anything be done about it?   At this point moving the stick is not an option.

The U360 uses a magnet to figure out where the joystick is, right? I'm sure other metal could affect the magnet, and hence the joystick sensor.

I don't know the layout of the cpanel you're referring to, but I'd imagine the joysticks would have to be pretty close.

Sitting here thinking about it.  My best bet atm, is to just remove the U360 and plug it into my pc to see if there is any difference.

It's working now.  Stupid me.  I hadn't gone through the process of giving each U360 a seperate ID.  After I did that, it worked fine.

Just another of example of an idiot not following directions..... :-[
