Auction in Richmond VA 12/7-8

Anyone else going to the arcade auction at the Richmond Raceway complex this weekend?

I'm looking forward to it - my first auction!

I went last year and made out pretty good.

This year I am tied up.  But good luck, there should be plenty of deals to be had!

I'm going Saturday morning. 

Do any veterans of these things have suggestions or hints on what to expect?  What kind of prices do things usually go for?

Last year they came without advertising very much, so there wasn't a ton of people.

Some items went for real cheap, and others went for normal prices.

If you have the ability to carry off really big items, you can get them for real cheap (because noone else can take them away).

The classic games will go for the most (besides the multicades and pins).  But the average-names games will probably be cheap.

Last year the average multicade went for around $700.  Average classic went for around $450-500, and all the rest were $25-200.

Hmmm what time does this start? Is there an admission price?   Anyone have some more info......have alot to do this weekend but might make it over there.

Looks like today from 5-7 there will be a sort of 'buy it now' window, and the items that don't sell will go to auction.    I'm curious if anyone else has been to an auction set up this way, and if the 'buy it now' is a good idea, or just wait for the auction itself.

I guess your choice of using the "buy it now" or waiting for the auction would depend on how bad you want it.

Im planning on heading over there around dinner tonight after work.

I went tonight and wasn't really impressed.  A lot of ragged-out or flat not-working stuff there, and all of the prices seemed high to me.

Also, I hope there will be people bringing more stuff in tonight and tomorrow, because if not, there is FAR from 600 items for auction.  there may have been 50 arcades there.

the most interesting things I saw was a baby pac-man, a "sports machine" which was a pong rip-off in a gold sparkle fiberglass case, and a VS. Hogans Alley with a busted gun.

Other than that, it was run of the mill stuff for top prices.  Speaking of which, I saw about 5 or 6 "multi-cades", none of which had an un-locked coindoor, and had a bunch of bootlegged games (illegal, I assume).  One was also running Mame (saw the computer through the gaps in the jack-legged cabinet.)   Lowest price I saw for those was $1199.

If thats all they have to offer, I doubt I'll be going back tomorrow.
