my mala layout

hi i've been working on a mala layout and i'd thought i'd put it on here to see what you lot think any comments/advice as how i could improve it welcome
i've called it "circuit" i've only had a go on photoshop a few times and i'm learning new stuff all the time  ;D

You should really let the moderators move posts rather than double post.

Anywaysss. You asked for some advice and here it is.. Avoid using Photoshop's built in filters, they are ugly. Also the lens flare (if you really have to use it) should be faded out a bit, it's a bit too bright. Another suggestion I could make, is to make the "Game List Select" and "Press to start" text white with a black shadow or black outline. If you right click on your text layer and choose "Blending options" you can add a drop shadow or stroke. Mess with the options until it looks good. Another idea is to take that snapshot from Mala, bring it into Photoshop and use it to add some black filled rectangles just offset (create them using the Rectangular Marquee tool with feather set, and Ctrl-Backspace to fill it with your background color) to the marquee, snap and CP images. In Mala they will appear to have shadows underneath.

Overall I like the design though :)

I like the game list box, but I do agree that the flare might look better if it was muted a bit.

thanks for the advice i'll tone down the flare a bit i was going to put shadows on the marquee and control panel snaps but there different sizes for different roms I'll try the white writing with a shadow and post some pics when I'm done ;D

I like it. I do think that there can be less viewable solder points.
