Smash TV dimensions?
« on: December 04, 2007, 11:14:59 am »
At the 2007 Houston Arcade show, there was a Mame cabinet that was a conversion of a Smash TV cabinet with what appeared to be a 25" monitor. This cabinet seems to be the perfect height with the control panel being perfectly placed. However, I'd rather have an SF2 style layout instead of the default Smash TV layout. Since I'd rather not use an existing machine, does anyone have or know where I can get the dimensions of the Smash TV machine?

If I can't get the dimensions, I probably will use a kit to build mine, as I'm not that great with woodworking. I wonder if the Mameroom UAII cabinet is close in size to it. I see in some of the pictures on the site that the control panel seems to stick out a bit more, but that just might be my imagination.

looks very similar to Joust but with straight lines instead of curves... shouldnt be that hard to build.  Jakobud didnt have plans for a Joust on his site but you might could find them elsewhere..  BUT he does have plans for Moon Patrol with looks very close if not identical to Joust..   http://www.jakobud.com/cabinetPlans.php

Thanks, but his appears to be a bit different than that one.

Here's a link to the photos: http://coinoplove.com/MAME/index.htm

If I understand correctly there was a 19" and a 25" Smash TV. I believe his is the 25".

hmm.. I didnt know that... Well, there is a 3D model of the 25" version on this site
http://3darcade.mameworld.net/models/models.htm#

perhaps you could get the dimension from the model by loading it into autocad, 3D studio, etc...  or maybe you could contact the author of the model..
