I'd say the whole attitude of the seller sucks... His whole "Ain't my problem" attitude not to mention the "you suck as a parent if you don't buy this" listing has put him in my DO NOT BUY FROM list. Seller acts like a doooosh, posts like a doooosh so obviously is a doooosh.

My daughter is getting a Wii for Christmas. We started looking in October. I just called a few stores every day until someone had some in stock, and then sent my wife to pick one up. No biggie really. We just planned ahead.

I could have bought 3 that day and thrown the other two on EBAY. I decided not to. It just doesn't trip my trigger trying to cash in on some kids Christmas gift. To each his own though. If you want to be a --cream-filled twinkie-- that's your problem. My morality is mine to tend to... I don't have time to look after everyone else's.

And yes, its my every right to be a --cream-filled twinkie--.  Thanks for noticing.

Good that you planned ahead though.

If your kids have been saving FOR A YEAR to buy something, and you know it's going to run out of stock, be a good parent and HAVE ONE STASHED.

so you are saying that you are only a good parent if you always buy a kid what they want, whether the deserve/earn it or not.

Erm, that's not what he said.  He's saying ensure that your kids are going to reap the reward of their dilligent saving, given that the odds are they're not going to be able to find the Wii when the time comes.  Buy it, hide it, and when they reach their goal give them their reward.  It's not a bad idea.

so you've become the voice for PBJ now huh?

guess I'm doing it wrong as a parent then. I would think that after they've saved and earned it for themselves. Using their own money and being taken to the store to buy it on their own, would make them feel much better about it, then them handing the money to you, you digging in the closet, pulling it out, and saying "here ya go. I know how bad you wanted this, you've worked hard to earn it, and I've had one hidden here all this time". They would also learn that not every thing is as easy to obtain as they would think.

but then again, I don't freak out if my kids don't have the latest and greatest that the consumerism demands are the must haves. They get it when we get around to getting it.

Would your kids not learn that from having had to save for a full year?  There is also something to be said for helping them out a bit.  They're kids.

yeah suppose you're right...

it's just sellers such as arm123 clearly have no respect for this hobby or the people in the hobby by posting such filth as his e-bay auction. There's a majority of people on these boards who are in the video games hobby because we enjoy it, but the greedy ---smurfs--- that come in and try to squeeze every dime they can out of it just really craps on the core members of the community who are here for the enjoyment.

people like that have no business being here. They are in it for the money and not the satisfaction brought to us by each pixel displayed.

sorry Chad and PBJ for crapping on you two when it's clearly the seller who deserves it.....

and yes people might not like that you are advertising to something that your are selling way above retail.  sure its nice to find that person who doesnt know better but this isnt the place to talk about it.  kinda like those jerks who went to a game convention bought two sets of the starcraft board game (despite that being disallowed) and then reselling one for twice the price plus high shipping costs to "let those who couldnt go get a chance top buy it".

lol wut?

What's wrong with that?  Gonna call the wahbulance?

Duh.  They were playing that game.

It's not a very good game.

You see, there lies the problem.

There is a relatively small local community and of the folks I know in SW Ontario (whom I suggested you ask for help with your anode caps) about half think poorly of this.

You may not know any of them. You may not need their help. You may not care. I couldn't fault you for it.

However, I have come to realize that karma is real within the hobby - from getting the local help you need to having people not bid against you at auction. I have come into a couple of opportunities just in the last week that wouldn't have happened except that I was nice to people (and I need to make a mental note to be nicer going forward!).

I am trying to figure out if I know you so I can defend or disavow ... I don't have a problem with trying to make a bunch of bucks on the Wii (like nostrebor, that is not something that I would do), but the attitude isn't doing you any favours.

FWIW.

that is the same defense argument you scalpers come in her with once you are called out for your unethical "services".

Never did I say or imply to give it away. If you are going to sell it... fair market value would be the right price with fellow game enthusiast, look around at other seller. They tend to sell things at a fair price, when they don't they are called out on it.

Do English better.

Jeez you are dense.  It didnt have anything to do with it.  I posted the pic because of the link chad posted.  the board game statement was independent of his pic.  you see i was mentioning the game because this guy is doing the same thing as the guy who bought the game to make money.  its an ethics thing you wouldnt understand.

I totally agree.  I guess I am a bad parent too.   :P

I think that if you spend a year purposefully setting up your children for disappointment, you're at least a little sadistic.

Wii has been selling out non-stop for over a year.  Take the hint.

Lesson learned, I hope.

Boy, you sure have me figure out.  That was my intent all along to set my kids up for disappointment...   :tool:

I'll just say this:

It is unfortunate and irritating that scalping and reselling has reached the scale it has (Ex: Hannah Montana). However, I don't blame the resellers one bit. I blame the people who PAY those outrageous sums...and then ---smurfette--- about it. It's the same thing with gas prices. There are people who ---smurfette--- and moan about gas all while they put $80 into their V8 SUV.

If you want reselling and scalping to stop, its actually pretty simple: DON"T BUY!!! You'd be amazed at how quick scalping and reselling would stop if there was a boycot of purchasing from them.

Well yeah but whos going to do this?  Especially during christmas when parents "have to" get their spawn some toy or whatever.

So, best I can tell, some guys went to some comic book show and bought some board game and resold it to people that didn't make it to the show, and you're mad about it?

Again, I defer to my first remark on this story:

----------------
lol wut?

What's wrong with that?  Gonna call the wahbulance?

----------------

Why would i be mad about a game i dont care for?  my point is sure there is nothing stopping someone from buying and reselling things (stores do this) but there is a point when such practices become something you shouldnt brag about on a forum where people might be looking for this product.

concerning the game the people selling them werent allowing people to buy more than one.  he went out of his way to get a second just to resell.  he wasnt doing anyone any favors.

what if you go to a store and the item you wanted was sold out because the employees bought them all to resell on ebay.

I agree 100%

I am going to end up putting the price down, to move the item.  But not till the last week of Christmas shopping.

And there is nothing wrong with my attitude.  I am pissed off that people think they can tell me what to do with MY item.

I can sell it for as much or as little as i wish.

Truth is, ill probably end up giving it to a friend for cost.  However, i only have one...  So i wont be giving it up till im ready.

And if someone is willing to offer me the ridiculous amount i have posted it up for, then i will give it to them and my friend is out of luck.

And...   I am not bragging.  My anger is provoked by BS responses, thinking that they know best.  Anyone who can read the thread and remain impartial (Isn’t a parent looking for one of these things) can see that.

Perhaps i am POOR and NEED the money to help my family.  Does this make you people feel better ?  I think that’s what your concerned about.  I couldnt care less about how you guys feel about the selling of my item.

I just thought this whole thing would be funny / fun to do.  I truly didn’t expect it to go this far and the desperation to be this bad.  BUT, I will not allow that to affect my selling decision.

At least I only have one of these things.  Not 20.  However, the reactions of you people are making me want to go out and buys more  in defiance ;-p

Let the thread die.

Why are you so surprised how this thread turned out? This happens every time a money grubbing ---uvula--- such as yourself thinks BYOAC is the place to make a quick buck. Yeah we are gamers, but we are also a tight community who notify sellers their item is overpriced.

Hey maybe you need the money, maybe not... find a different community to hawk your overpriced goods at. I personally care less what you do with it. Sell it over priced, give it to a family member, sell it to your friend at cost. Makes no difference to me. It's the attitude you have through this whole thread and the thought that BYOAC is your meal ticket that pisses me off.

All these "BS responses" are what you are going to get when you try to be unethical here. Get used to it.

I don't plan to get a Wii for a few more months so no, my post are not out of desperation for not finding one, hell I haven't looked. My post are merely out of disgust that people like you exist and come into our forum and hope to leach off of the fact that it is a harder to get item.

This thread may be your little fun and entertainment, but it most likely ruined your rep a bit as a seller here.

Truth is, ill probably end up giving it to a friend for cost.  However, i only have one...

Maybe you'd have more than one friend if you weren't so exploitive?

MikeQ, if you can get one at or around retail price, I will buy it from you.  I'm looking for one.  Build in a small profit if you want for your assistance.

Most of the people here want a 'deal' and are not willing to pay a premium.  I will do all i can to make money and not feel guilty about it.

Everyone that i know who has an extra Wii is doing the same thing.  And im sure you would as well.

I’m sure there are adults watching this thread who are actually interested in seeing what happens.

lol...   poor souls cant find a Wii and I’m sure you haven’t looked.

If you want a Wii, ill sell you one.  But you have to come here and get it  ;D

Keep the flames coming ladies... lets see if we cant get to page 4

I'll have to look into it.  I can get Radeon graphics cards and stuff too at hundreds below cost (I work for AMD/ATI division).  We designed the GPU for the Wii.  Hence the discount.  However, with the graphics cards are serial numbered such that we cannot resell them.  If we are caught, we lose our employee purchase program.  I'm not sure if the Wii's are the same.  I'll check.  There is probably a limit too.

That's cool, obviously don't put any risk into it for yourself.  Do what you are willing, anything is appreciated, and if you come up with something I'll take whatever you are willing to sell me.  It's all good in BYOAC.

I mentioned this in a PM but thought I'd put it out here.  It turns out the offer was for $234.00 but it's a lottery.  We have to register and a drawing will be conducted.

There is no restriction on what we do with it like the video cards (which makes sense because the video cards are sold to us at cost).

So, not that great of a deal after all.
