changing the joystick handle colour?
« on: December 02, 2007, 11:53:30 am »
hey everybody sorry if it has been posted but i havent been able to locate any info. This is my first cab and i dont wanna screw it up since ive never worked with wood before and it took me some time to get that control panel built.

ive been debating which joysticks to get for my CP and i've decided on the U360. Problem is that it only seems to come in two colours. black and red. is there a way i can change the top to be a different colour or replace the top somehow? not sure if anybody has done this before. I am building a 4 player cp and i wanted  green, blue, red, yellow tops to match the buttons. the reason i chose the U360 is because i dont like the clicky noise of some of the cheaper joysticks. any advise? are there any other joysticks other than the U360/ P360 that are quiet?

I guess while im at it might as well ask another question.
for my CP its made of mdf, i want to put a graphic on it and then sandwich it with some lexan. whats the best order of drilling?

1. should i drill the holes on the wood, then put the graphic on, then drill the lexan
2. should i sandwich it all and then drill through all the layers?
3. drill the wood, cut out the graphic holes with an exacto knife and then drill the lexan?
4. some other better way i havent thought of?

thank you very much for your help

5 drill the wood-use router with flush trim to cut the plastic-sandwitch the art and cut with sharp blade.

If you don't have a router, clamp the lexan and wood - drill the holes - sandwitch the art and cut with sharp blade.

Can't help with the joy handles, don't have a u360  :-[

The tops of the U360s are interchangable with a number of colored tops but I'm not sure which ones (I have a pink balltop on mine).

The U360 is a modified Japanese (Sanwa) joystick. All the Japanese joysticks (Sanwa and Seimitsu) have interchangeable balltops. You can buy them all over the place but akihabarashop.com has the widest choice.

does anybody know exactly what kind of sanwa joystick the U360 is? because i want to change the top to a blue bat top and ther apparently is different models?? or maybe they fit all models?

also when i got the U360 from ultimarc i didint get the restrictor plates. will standard sanwa restrictor plates work on the U360?

anybody know where i can get a blue bat top for my U360?

thanks
