Daphne Cliff Hanger Help
« on: November 28, 2007, 12:14:09 am »
I actually managed to get the files downloaded VIA torrent, the files are in the same folders as the other video files.

There is a TXT file in the folder that I checked the rest of the other games TXT files, and it doesn't match up like theirs.  Mine says

.

0 cliff.m2v

Maybe i have it setup wrong. Someone please tell me EXACTLY what I need to know to get this game working.

Daphne website

BTW, references to how you get video files are probably going to get you treated like you would if you asked for MAME roms.
Old, but not obsolete.

It does..... just needs setup properly in the game configuration menu itself.
(well, it runs... I haven't really played it)
The .txt file is fine though.

Works fine for me.
Maybe you could give more information about exactly what is not working?  Are you getting an error msg?

Now I will have to check this when i get home, maybe its no cliff hanger but another game on there just this weekend I finished up downloading the new daphne, & 1 of the games states due to driver issue this game is not supported yet, so which one is it.

I went & checked the daphne site & there is a list of games people want to see working please see below, did you guys do something to get cliffhanger to work all my other games work perfect...

Q: Are you going to emulate any other laserdisc games?

A: Hopefully. I think everyone wants to see more games in Daphne!

One thing to remember is that Daphne isn't a job, it's a hobby, which means that we work on whatever is interesting to us. This means that new games may be emulated tomorrow, in a few years, or never. We ask the users of Daphne to help keep Daphne development fun for us by encouraging us to work on what we want, when we want.

OK...for some reason it was trying to download some files off of their server and it just SAT there. I thought it was broke.  But apparently this morning, it downloaded in 2 seconds....That was really annoying, but thank you for the support.

A quick question in relation to this ...

Are the ROM files about a gig for each game?

No the ROMs are tiny.  The video files are huge (over a gig in most cases).

I don't think the FAQ has been updated for quite some time.  It also makes references to "Us vs. THEM" and M.A.C.H. 3" which work fine in DAPHNE.  The Wiki is probably more up to date and the forums there as well as the chat room are great resources for updated info.

However, if people are going to go there, start off with "I downloaded a torrent of <insert game> and it doesn't work" and expect to be well treated, they'll be in for a rude awakening.  The team there (and rightfully so) have no love for intellectual property theft (most of those guys and myself included, spent a lot of money on the original laserdiscs, or bought the Digital Leisure DVDs).

You think?

I'm waiting for them to get Super Don Quixote to work with my LDP, so if they are testing their compatibility against a previous version this would crop up.

Ask them for a copy of the stats from Daphne's survey and see how many proper laserdisc games are being used with the said emulator.

Considering how many copies of Esh laserdiscs is available to purchase, and see how many people use Esh Mpegs via that survey, it becomes more apparent the software is used more for mpegs, than it was originally created for.

With regards for Torrent downloading of Abandonware as Matt like to put it, you would get a slap on the wrist for making that comment, but mention a rip of Bluth and you will get the wrath.  Beware.  :laugh2:
