.DXF files: CNC cabinet plans
« on: November 16, 2007, 10:36:32 pm »
Does anyone have or know where to get any .DXF file based plans (or other CNC friendly format) for any cabinets?

A bartop in particular would be nice ...

I haven't seen any files that are specifically developed for cad.  Any drawing file can be converted to cnc file format with a cad/cam program. I use Bobcad myself which generates a file format with a .cad extension. The Gcode can be generated directly from a 2D drawing or 3D drawing using the cam programming feature. Do you have a specific plan in mind? Maybe I can help to convert one.

I think reference designs for the community .. for a bar top, a lusid cabinet and a pacman cocktail... would be really helpful for many people.

Personally, I'm interested in a bartop since I could have emachineshop cut it out and ship it without much hassle to me...and then use a bunch of things 'laying around' to populate it :)

Are you saying that vectors can easily be converted to CNC plans? Hmm
This CAD stuff is a bit new for me ..

I'm actually working on this currently, the CNC Router at my school (high school) uses MasterCam which supports the option to convert from .dwg or .dxf. I plan to make my good version of my CP using this machine  ;D

I've decided to use AutoCad 2008 to design my Control Panel. Though the version of MasterCam (v9) at my school only supports AutoCad 2000. So I converted it down to 2000/2000 LT

Please ask Questions! I'll help as much as possible!

I'm an associate of an architectural firm so send post up a PDF file or any other schematics or plans you have and I will see if I can help you out. After I see the plans you want I could probably have them to you in a day or so.

It would be great to see all the plans at Jakobud's site converted for CNC use.

Spacies made this bartop on a CNC machine:

Yip I make those cabs on a CNC.
Also my cocktails:

Building machines has become a full time business so unfortunately I can't make the plans available. I am sure you understand. Maybe when I don't want to do this anymore then I will send the plans to Saint.

Sorry again.

I am interested in this idea of conversion as well.
