multiple inputs through the gaming port?

Is it possible to chain together more than one gamepad through the gaming port?  Right now I'm operating on a keyboard hack/gamepad hack combo, to avoid blocking issues... but I'm looking into adding an analog stick, so I can play Sinistar...  ;D  (oh, and all those other analog/49way games too)

Unfortunately the gamepad and the analog stick both, of course, require the gaming port.  Is there any way to splice them (or the port) to run at the same time?  The inputs do not need to be seperate, and I'm not worried about disabling/enabling sticks when not in use...  feels like a simple problem, but I'd like some input before I go ahead and murder my analog stick.

if you have USB that would be better.  Otherwise you have to use something strange like hte old sidewinders that could be daisy chained.

Get a Gameport > USB adaptor.  I have one for the very same reason (I wanna use paddle + analog stick) and it works great :)

Probably not in your case.  If you want to chain them, they need to use the same communication protocol.  Most analog sticks use the gameport standard protocol, while most gamepads use their own proprietary protocol.  To chain two gamepads often means they need either:

to be the same brand (ie: two gravis will work together, or two MS sidewinders, but not a gravis and a sidewinder), or

to use the gameport protocol with a max of two buttons each.

USB would certainly be the obvious answer, but I'm running DOS, so no USB support... :-\

The sidewinders don't do me much good unless they've got an analog input that's easily hackable to some joystick form (which I doubt, but who knows, i'm not familiar with sidewinders).  

I've been thinking that if I can find some more block-free inputs from the keyboard, then I could use the four buttons off the analog stick, and I'll probably be home free.  :D
