Capcom to revive their Arcade Operations

I thought this was quite interesting in a "new arcade" kind of way

Could be interesting if they have decent stuff in them

Not really that interesting. They are referring to Japan arcade business - not the US.

Well I thought it was interesting. Perhaps if they can revive interest overseas, it will make it's way here. Surely it can't hurt.

I don't think you can compare interest in Japan to here. The arcade scene in Japan never went away.
Not sure what Capcom's deal was, but if you search Japanese Arcades on google, you'll see the current scene there is still amazing. Almost 10,000 operating arcades, including a 9 story one operated by Sega.

Arcades have tried what works in Japan, that is why my local mall arcade has twenty bajillion showcase cabinets playing 2d fighting games. Noone even gives a crap anymore.

You also have to realize the density factor.

In Asian countries,  the population density is incredible.

Imagine if you only get 100 people a day going into your
store in usa...  out of the 2000 people that walk by...

Now imagine 20,000 people walking by your business
every day.. and that same percentage stop by...

Even at their worst days... the sheer volume of people there
lends enough business to keep things in the red.

You can see that the very few remaining arcades in the
states are all in areas of high population density, and high
traffic areas.

While Arcades Could make a comeback - it would take a
lot more innovation, and or specialized hardware that isnt
duplicatable in the home for the average joe.
