Mala and TIME display
« on: November 14, 2007, 07:15:49 am »
I noticed that you can display the time (clock) in the Mala layouts under Pattern.
The pattern is ~m_time

I do have a problem where it displays:
Hour, :, Minutes, :  (ex. 12:34:)

Is there a way to remove the second colon or is this a 'bug'?
Is it suppose to display seconds also?
I tried different fonts and that did not make a difference.

Thanks

It's a known 'feature'   ;)

There is a work-around if the background right behind that colon is a solid color:

1) Create a text object that comes before the text object that has the time (so it will be on top)
2) Left-align this text object
3) Set the pattern to L (so the vertical leg of the L can hide the colon)
4) Right-align the text object that has the time pattern
5) Move the text field that has the L around until it covers the colon (it helps to set the L font larger and bold)
6) Set the L to the same color as the background right behind the colon you are trying to hide.  You can use MSPAINT's eye dropper to tell you exactly what that color is.

Note that if your time text object comes before the L text object in the list, it will be on top of the L instead of behind it.  Attached is an example where I just stuck the time in a place where you could find it easily (bottom left quadrant of the screenshot):

Thanks for the work around.
There must be something with the code that could be fixed in the future.

Nice layout. I like the joysticks to help with the navigation.
