help needed for setting up an Ultimarc A-pac
« on: November 10, 2007, 07:44:51 am »
I have just received my A-Pac from ultimark and have no idea how to set it up.  I have started by wiring just the brake pedal to the blue wire, (standard Cruisin' USA pedals), and went into Windows XP Control Panel - game controllers - Ultimarc A-Pac to calibrate it.  Under properties, the Z Axis and X, Y and Z Rotation columns are flickering up and down all over the place. The green LED on the A-pac flickers off about every 2 - 2 and a 1/2 seconds..  What I'm saying is the computer does not seem to recognise the A-Pac or maybe the pedals . .. any thoughts?

Also, I don't know what the calibration should look like when it is or isn't working etc

Also, how do I get MAME32 to recognise the A-Pac or does it do it automatically. . . because at the moment I don't think the computer is recognising the pedals so its unlikely MAME will  . . .

make sure that you enable "joysticks", and also select the USB APAC controllers (both of them!) under the controller tab in mame32.

Andy provides a lot of info for you on his website so have a look: http://ultimarc.com
Check out my completed projects!

The green light should be constant, either there is a fault with the A-pac or it's the USB port you are using, try it in a different port to make sure. You will know if it's working or not working - if the cursor move's on the calibration screen it work's, if it does'nt check your wiring. Also check what pot's you have on the control's and make sure you use the same capacitor, ie. 5K pot use the 150nF capacitor, 100k pot use the 10nF capacitor.

Regards.

First reply to Zebidee . . I have enabled joysticks but none of the dropdown boxes have the A-Pac listed. . . does this means that the computer does not recognise the A-pac even though Control Panel - Game controllers does?

To TheDriver, on the calibration screen, the cursor jumps around all over the place but doesn't move anywhere consistantly when I move the control.  Just keeps jumping around the place.  I'm using the A-Pac II and I don't think it needs capacitors?

thanks for all your responses!!!

You are right it does'nt need capacitor's, sorry I assumed you meant Apac v1, I have not used v2 so am unsure how it's set up. Hopefully URebelscum will see this thread as analog control's are his area and he alway's has good advice. Failing that I am sure you can mail andy at ultimarc and ask.

Regards.
