First Cabinet, Jamma, Multiboard + Pics!!
« on: November 07, 2007, 07:05:17 pm »
Well I finally finished my first Cabinet.  here is the backstory.   I wanted to build a mame cabinet but did not want to invest hundreds of hours in building it.  My time is very valuable so I was looking for the quickest solution possible.  I found a thread on the 1000 in 1 boards and went ahead and ordered one.  Its basically a Micro ATX computer w/ Hard drive, mame, and a front end w/ all the roms preloaded.  I will not discuss where I got it from so please do not ask here is the pictures.

here is a picture of the cab on ebay.  ended up winning it for $525 shipped to my door.

wiring inside was a pure mess

all new buttons and joysticks form Happ w/ extra buttons and 1 extra Joy. ordered form ebay

here is a pic of it mounted, basically a small computer, w/ Jamma harness, HD, Admin Finger board, 1066 roms

PSU Mount made from 4 Lbrackets at Home Depot.  Cheap and effective. and ghetto

I didnt want to have a credit button on the machine because I want it to be clean and simple.  So i rigged a Cherry switch to the coin eject, So whenever I load a game and want to coin up i just push in the coin eject about a 1/4 inch.  clean and hidden

here is the game it came with when i bought it.  Xmen Vs SF.  plays perfect

here she is in all her glory

anyone need a Capcom CPS, + Xmen vs SF and Vampire Savior?

price break down:

Dynamo cabinet working = $525 Shipped
1066 in 1 board = $285 Shipped
All new Buttons and Joys = $55 Shipped

hours invested; about 8 rewiring everything.  once everything was wired up properly she fired up and all i had to do was sync the monitor and that was it.  of course I got this because the only games i like are fighting games and this has All the SFs, All the KOFs, metal slugs, all the capcom games, and even has a few of the oldies like pac man, galaga, dig dug, although it looks funny because its on a horiz monitor.  I will be happy to take pics  and answer any Qs, Later when i get back from my poker game.   I will also post a full write up about this on my blog.  HonestRyan.com

from what I can tell the machine started off as a SF machine in 94, then got changed to a Vampire Savior, then a Xmen vs SF.  the coin counter had 60,900 coins on it, so this baby got some decent play.  the NTSC monitor works perfect, nice and clean and crisp. plus all new controls so it looks and feels like a brand new machine.  I got my brother making a Marquee art for me, and am thinking about just leaving the sides black.  I am not sure if I should kep the capcom vinyl sticker over hte CP.  its cracking in several places, do you guys have any ideas for that?  the coin eject lights didnt work so i took the bulb to autozone and its just a 194 instrument panel wedge bulb, so $3 got me 2 new ones.  ask me any questions u may have. i will be back on later tonight

thanks!

Looking good!  I bought a SF3 cabinet that came with wiring that made that look like a clean job so I feel your pain.  I ended up just buying a whole new jamma harness and redoing it from scratch.  Just got my MAME PC working and also have a SSF2Turbo cart in it.  Pretty similar setup to yours.
I've seen someone post a link to new sheets of the capcom vinyl overlay on the forum before.  Might try doing a forum search.  IIRC it was ~45 bucks for a sheet.

How much are you selling the Xmen vs SF and VSav for?
