Name that Game
« on: November 06, 2007, 07:25:13 am »
Hello everyone. First of all, I need to ask all those arcade wisemen here about a game. I saw it in a short videoclip which has meanwhile been removed from the web - therefore I am unable to make a screenshot : /

The game seems to be a racing game with 2D bitmap graphic. Camera angle is behind the car, similar to outrun. You also pass other cars in traffic like in Outrun or Hang-on. What made the game outstanding was the simulation of the third dimension. In this particular video, it seemed like you would be able to drive looping-like tracks which made the background scroll - simmilar to some parts of Konami's Twin-bee. So, anyone knows about this game?

Second: Just an idea though - how about a sticky thread, where everyone looking to identify specific games, could post and ask their questions? I just have no idea about how to structurize it, so that you don't get lost in all the questions/ answers.

Regards,
Alex

Chase HQ
Full Throttle (TopSpeed)
SF RUSH series
Hard Drivin'
Cruisin' series (Cruisin' USA, Cruisin' World, etc?)

Are any of these close?

I will give those titles a look though I am sure it was not part of the Cruisin' series.

BUT: I found the video again! It can be viewed here: http://www.vossens-arcade.com

I accidentally typed .de for Germany for the ending which makes it http://www.vossens-arcade.de which brings up this guy's website and I've just assumed he removed the video and added the content. The game I want to know about is shown right after After Burner II and Rampage World Tour.

BTW: The machines shown appearently are part of this guy's collection. He resides on one of the two german arcade message boards - I am rarely reading there since I don't care much for those boards, but he seems to be real. Regarding his collection - a bit of overkill, isn't it? ; )

S.C.I.  Special Criminal Investigation.  Sequel to Chase HQ.  Chase HQ had the Porsche 928, SCI had the 300ZX.

[insert blushing smiley here]

I just have an outstanding memory when it comes to some things, like IDing video games, but a *terrible* memory when it comes to important things...

Enjoy.

PS--I betcha that SCI also came as a kit for Chase HQ, so if you're actually pursuing the real deal (vs. an emulated version), you can probably get either cabinet & do a simple board swap to get a 2-in-1 machine.
