Changed Jamma boards, Machine wont power on
« on: November 05, 2007, 01:18:48 pm »
Hey Guys,
FTPLTL.  I bought a Dynamo Cab that was once a SF3, Then Vampire Savior, and then Xmen vs SF.  The game and everything worked perfect and i played it for about a week.  I ordered a 1000 in 1 Multiboard and last night I put in all new controls, cleaned up the wiring, and then Rewired everything by the manuals Jamma Layout (just the controllers nothing else).  now that everything is plugged in and seems to be in the right place, I plug in the machines old power supply and the ATX power supply that comes with the new board, Cross my fingers..... and nothing.

Nothing turns on, monitor doesnt turn on, new power supply doesnt do anything, no fans or lights on the new board nothing.  im kinda clueless here and only went this route because I was told it would be the most absolutely easiest way to run a mame cabinet.  any help and I would definately appreciate it.  Pics will follow soon after i get it working and i will have a full write up.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have no power at all.... start from the wall outlet and work your way in.

Are there any sfaety interlock switches where the back door or coin door are?
If so, PULL those out one click if you have the back door off or the coin door open.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Turn on your power strip.   ;D

Seriously, I would pop in the jamma Street fighter board back in there.  If it used to work then it should work again.

Then I would test each Power supply separately.  How are you powering on the ATX Supply?

Sometimes the most complicated problems have the simplest answers.  I did all my working on it at between 4-7am.  I switched the Power strip unit, w/ a newer one i had and she fired right up just now.  Monitor is not syncing but there are directions in here for that.  I will post back in  afew hours w/ my progress.  ATX power supply is mounted next to the Board.  both old power supply and hte board power supply go out to a NEW powerstrip.  TY KEvin and Knave!

Wow this thing is amazing.  i found a way to control the volume when I am browsing through the Front end Menu,  but as soon as I start up a game, the Music and sound effects feel like they are gonna blast me outta my chair.  It sounds like my speakers are turned all the way up.  How can I get some speakers that I can adjust, or is there a way to adjust the speakers I got?  There is a volume control on the Board, but it only controls the volume on the front end menu, not in the game itself.  Its a Dynamo cabinet.

thanks!

Review, pics, information about price, etc on 1000 in 1 board, plz.

Feel free to leave out anything that goes against saint's request on this topic:

So two different situations here. In respect of MAME-Dev wishes, in light of my desire that this site be a MAME-friendly site, and recognizing that inclusion of all those games in the MAME-derived versions appear to be copyright violations, I would prefer that those boards simply aren't discussed here.

...snip...

NB - By not being discussed, I mean discussions as to making them work, troubleshooting, or obtaining them. Discussions about their ethics, how they work, and such are fine.

PBJ -- didn't you piss off the MAMEDevs enough last time around ?

There's no need for ryan to share "where" he got the board, but I too am curious as to "how" it works and what he thinks of it.

I think it's also appropriate to make sure Ryan knows that the legitimacy and legality of the 1000 in one boards are questioned here and that it's a touchy subject.

Picts are ok though!!!
