Multi-JAMMA harness

You know those Multi-JAMMA harnesses some people get? The kind where you can buy two or more JAMMA boards, which allow the cabinet to switch between multiple JAMMA boards without having to physically reach in and swap boards.

Out of curiosity, do the harnesses keep all the PCB's powered on at the same time or are they powered on/off when you switch between them?

From what i hear...   they do ether / or.

The more expensive ones keep them all powered (hence you need additional PSU's), while i have seen a few that power each up on demand.  They are less expensive and you have to sit and wait for the pcb to boot up.

I personally like the cheaper ones, because i dont mind the wait and i dont like to spend a crap load of money.

Clay's MultiJAMMA kit does keep the boards powered.

OK, I think I'm getting a better idea of how they work. I'm not entirely sure how that MultiJAMMA kit design works when the daughter boards have a single MAX4615. Can't really see what the other IC's do, but that doesn't nearly seem to be enough pins there. Makes me wonder if he's simply cutting the grounds (where appropriate).

I saw mention elsewhere of a two-fer JAMMA harness that seems to be comprised mostly of diodes.
