Mame doesn't display the Avres generated resolution

It's a little weird. It seems like mame does not choose the resolution in the .ini files. With Mortal Kombat and Final Fight for instance, the resolution his around half the width it's actually supposed to be. But when I manually choose the resolution in mame (instead of auto res) it's all good.

The thing is, I don't want to manually find the resolution for all games. What do you think could cause this?
