Author Topic: Tekken cabinet 36"monitor ? Do I need isolation for namco monitor cabinet.  (Read 1757 times)

Hello guys, I just brought an empty cabinet with everything strip out except the monitor still in the cabinet. when I look at it in the back, it's a namco cabinet My questions is do I need an isolation for the monitor?

please spec it
and i am i am sure some one will help u tell
the monitor tag/type/mfg etc is most important

I have the Monitor Made by DYNAMCO LTD KTM-F33 !!  Its used to be a Tekken 4 Cabinet, DO i need the Isolation? i try to Google it but no luck

That is a Kortek chassis re-branded by Sharp Image.

I can't tell you for sure if it needs to be isolated or not, but I doubt it needs to. If you have an isolation transformer, it doesn't hurt anything to power on a chassis that doesn't require isolation with an isolation transformer.

I was worry about there will be a buildin one within the chassis  and ends up having dual isolation and damage the monitor ><

Based on the pictures you provided, I think it probably does require one.  I don't see an SMPS on the main board.  A more detailed picture of the large circuit board, especially the area where the AC power goes in, would help.  Remember that running a monitor that needs an iso without one will basically destroy it, but running one that doesn't need an iso with one won't cause any harm, so best to go safe here if you can't make a for-sure determination and use one.  "Double isolation" is also not generally a problem.

Ah, it does appear to have an SMPS, so no iso required.
