Seeking New "THEME"

OK boys and girls.  A couple months ago I sold my the cabinet that I built when I got started with this hobby.  It had a 19" monitor and would have been a pain in the ass to convert to a 25". I sold only the stripped cabinet (with doors).  I transferred the guts in to a huge 25" cabinet that at one time was a WWF game.  Here is the outcome:



I painted the control panel yellow as I was ORIGINALLY intending to make this a "Steelercade" or something,  but have since abandoned the idea. 

Which leaves me here...SEEKING A THEME for this MAME cabinet.  The "BIGDAWG AND BOO'S ARCADE" theme I went with with the original cabinet (and as seen in the photo above) was done when I expected only a single cabinet.  Now it just seems sort of silly with 9 cabinets.  It needs to be more identifying of what it is...a multigame machine. I am almost to the point that I'm just going to grab a generic MAME marquee and go...because that is almost what I want...

The theme has to indicate the machine is a multiple arcade machine in some way..."MAME" can be incorporated but doesn't have to.  Because I have two MAME cabinets,  I as actually considering coming up with something that is similar for both but identifies each for what it is...

I both like and hate (somehow), "HorizontaMAME" and "VertiMAME" for example.

Any suggestions?  Any ideas?



I CAN change the color of the panel,  but it looks pretty nice in person actually and if I could incorporate it in to the theme all the better...stripping the paint is a pain in the ass and I have enough Lexan for another panel but that is some expensive stuff and i'd rather not make a 2nd panel if possible.

...maybe something incorporating TIME instead.... time sink, time hole, time travel, time transport, that sort of thing.

I've got a good concept for you FrizzleFred, and free of charge 

First, you change your CP overlay from yellow to a bright arcade RED.

Then, you paint the sides the same RED.

And finally, you put a nice marquee showing with pride that you have an arCADE and that your are running MAME

don't be afraid, I know you want to...

You may as well write that on a postit note with pencil.  It's about that quality.

Get a mirror cut to marquee size and put on overlay on it that says "GET IN THE GAME".

haha.  The marquee will have Donkey Kong's legs hanging off the end of a gurney with a toe tag. lol.  Sorry. Not trying to hijack the thread.

Screw it...I think I am going to go just generic MAME... I like the round MAME side art LOCALARCADE has, etc.... maybe I'll tweak it a little.   I am spending too much time on this BS when I have other more important things to do (IE: getting my Star Wars working!).

I think I'm gunna go with HorizontaMAME and VertiMAME... I am just not "feeling" the creativity in this process damnit...and I don't want to simply go with generic MAME.

I was thinking HorizontaCade and VertiCade but there is already a VertiCade (per google).

I actually like VertiMAME...but I don't much like HorizontaMAME...but there isn't really a different word meaning "horizontal" that fits.  FlatMAME?  SideMAME? 

I sort of want to get starting on a marquee...but I won't start until I am positive of what I want.  ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- perhaps SteelerCade is back on...

I think a good inspiration for cabinet names can come from linux distros...

mamedora
mameware
mamespire
mameix (or mamix?)
mamexbox or mameox

I also have always thought that something like "the mamenator" would be cool. Take a pop culture icon and stick mame in somewhere.
