i have never been able to ship anything from the westcoast to the eastcoast for 40 bucks that was as heavy as a quad controller with all the joys/trackball/etc... but that's just me.. not a shipping pro.

Volume shippers get deals.

Heads up...
I just fielded a call from the Attorney General's office in NJ.
They are going to try and contact everybody that's written in
to them and move forward with this.  Yahoo.

For those that have asked to test out our new control panel designing software...here it is in Beta.

If interested, please give it a try and provide feedback.
Thanks.

I thought I'd let you know that this software appears to work perfectly under WINE 1.0 rc1 on Ubuntu.

He is located in the same town as Mr. Christian, and is selling Slikstik products - sans the Slikstik name. Seems he isn't having much luck though. ;)

ROFL.  I havent been on the forums in 6 months, I cant believe this post is still going.  SlikStik must have stepped on a lot of toes or something.

Whats even better is the Admin made it a sticky.

LOL.  I love the stuff....

This is really bizarre. Why would he front the main page with the same name? Actually, only the 'affiliate' and 'web store' links are headlined 'Decade Arcade'. Ooops? Hmmm.

He also seems to have sold his mailing list to spammers.

I give every business a unique email address.  A few days ago, I got sleazy casino spam sent to the address I used when buying from SlikStik.  There's no way that anyone could have gotten that address unless he gave it out or was hacked.

You could very well be right, but that's not the only explanation for getting that spam. Back when I had a linux server running my mail server, the logs would report emails received for invalid email addresses, and I would get like 100 a day to seemingly randomly generated email addresses. Seemed like a stupid tactic to me, but it went on for at least a year and maybe more (don't recall really) until I switched to a different email server that doesn't log that stuff.

I should clarify.  I'm extremely familiar with spammers and their tactics, and I have a sufficiently strong technical background to back up my claims.  I have my own domain (several in fact), and everything sent to this particular domain goes into my inbox.  I monitor my mail logs regularly, and I can say with confidence that my domain has never been subjected to dictionary or other attacks.  I've owned this particular domain for many years, and nobody owned it before me.

SlikStik is not the first company to leak a tagged email address, but the number of companies to have done so is quite small.  I have a couple hundred tagged addresses in the wild, and only half a dozen or so have ever been spammed.  One was the classic Ameritrade fiasco-- they leaked two different addresses before closing their security hole.

anything new on this?  My brother bought a quad cabinet a long time ago, before all the shenanigans.

I think it's too bad it turned out this way because the product is really nice, I guess there are alternatives though.  but for people that didn't want hassle and wanted something nice this was the way to go.

Yeah, this whole thing is a shame.  I remember when Slik Stik was one of the crown jewels in the Buy your own arcade controls market place.  I have a fighter and a custom quad and I love them.

I have been out of the game for a while, who is the best in the marketplace right now for a plug and play solution?  Also, what happened to all of the custom Slik Stik products like the tornado and the metal or illuminated handles? Are those gone forever or has some other industrious soul duplicated these products?

Sorry I am out of the game, so if this has already been answered flame me privately as to not threadjack too much more.

Thanks,

Myron

I got my custom panel from ArcadesRfun and LOVE it!

I've since replaced the dedicated 4-way stick for a Happs top-fire.

So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

I beg to differ.  I have a SlikStik cab and love it, and it's definitely of higher quality than most arcade cabinets.  I was at a movie theater a few weeks ago and they had a few standup fighters etc.  It was amazing to me how much higher quality my SS cab is than those cabs.

I realize there's a fair amount of bias against the company at this point, but you have to see through that when you're looking at their cabs on a quality basis.

Actually, I don't.  It's not like you paid $500 for your "super-friends" themed cabinet.  You paid for a well built cabinet.  However, you also paid for the labor to put it together, and then 40% profit on top of that.

Seriously, let's see how happy you would be with your slishswick cabinet if you forked over ALLLLL that cash for it, and then gave you squat.  THAT is the point of all this 'bias' in this thread.  If you want to start a "gosh slishstink is the BEST cabinet maker on the planet" thread, go right ahead.

And try moving it around a bit. I've never seen one in person, but didn't they use particle board and outrigger cams? That crap can't stand up to any kind of moving around. They eventually rip out. I wouldn't call it solid if it can't be moved at all. Most REAL arcade machines can be moved around and beat on by delinquents all day and keep going...

I own a SS cab, and it is one of the most well put together cabs I've laid hands on. I don't recall the wood type and assembly method, but I can look if anyone's interested. When I wrote the book, we compared a variety of cabinets and the SS cab was hands down the most impressive.

That may be compared to kit cabs, but compared to a screwed and glued real cab, I don't think there is any comparison. How comfortable are you with just moving your SS cab around, and say putting it on a hand truck  and lugging it up a flight of stairs?

I don't have a SS cab, but have a variety of cabs that I obtained in a variety of conditions and I can say that anybody who tries to compare a cab that has been sitting in a remote location, subject to heavy abuse and neglect, possibly for decades, to a brand new HUO cab isn't making an appropriate comparison.

I own 10 or so real cabs too, and was including them in that comparison. It really is a well put together piece of kit. It is a flat pack assembly thingie though, so the actual arcade machines are quite likely the more sturdy, but the SS cab is solid through and through.  It's an entirely separate point from their business and business practices, which I won't comment on, but I've always liked the SS products.

And Cheffo's got a good point there.

Well I'm certainly not. I am however comparing it to a traditionally built screw and glue construction as opposed to outrigger\cam construction. It just doesn't hold up. Now, if you don't move it ever, and it's not used on location, I don't see a problem with home use only. A disclaimer should be mentioned however, especially in an objective review. Me, I prefer something a little more durable, just in case. Back in my apartment hopping days I can't count how many pieces of cheap particle board cam construction furniture didn't make it to the next place...
