I just received my SS Classic controller Christmas Eve.  After canceling my order with SS and reversing my CC charges, I ordered the identical controller from mameroom.  The funny thing is, the return address on the shipping box was from SlikStik in Nutley NJ.  And to top that off, I didn't get the illuminated controllers I ordered and the darn thing is wired wrong and I cannot get it to work properly.  I contacted mameroom and they are trying to make good, but it seems that I am supposed to wait for the manufacturer to call me--how likely is that!?!?  So, once again I am waiting for SS (I need my joysticks and them to contact me regarding fixing their bad wiring/ipac).    If this SS person is trying to make good with the community, he is doing a losy job.

I find this shocking. It was my understanding that Scott from Mameroom was building these himself.  I hope Scott gets all of this straightened out, as I would hate to see his reputation get tarnished.  He's a hell of a good guy from the phone conversation and emails that we have exchanged.

The MAMEROOM people are great people.  When I was thinking about having a cabinet built for me before a buddy of mine said he'd help me build one, MAMEROOM was one place I considered.  The people there were incredibly honest and upfront and willing to help me out.  They even said that it might be better for me to build one myself, but if not they'd be willing to help.  It would take a LOT for their reputation to be tarnished.  MAMEROOM and SlikStick are 100% complete opposites in terms of personality and "goodness".

Im just praying all is well with my controller if and when it gets here, it cost me like $800. I have a feeling it will be a pain in the ass to try and get my money back if anything is wrong with the panel and obviously sending it back or whatever is not an option being in another country.

Does anyone have a diagram on how to wire the SS Classic?  If so, please contact me, I really want to get this thing working.  I am so frushtrated and POd right now that I am ready to throw the thing out the window.

I find this whole thread a little sad. Not just for the customers waiting patiently for product that they paid for with their hard earned cash, but also for our little hobby seeing one of it's vendors manage to self implode. I would hope that things change with SlikStik by changing owners, but I'm not holding out much hope unless it completely changes hands and goes under "new management" so to speak. It seems that Jerry Mascari and Christian Stango were in fact business partners in this venture. Jerry so much as says they were partners in this video interview (scroll through about halfway to get to the slikstik interview with Jerry Mascari)...

http://video.aol.com/video-detail/coin-op-tv-episode-28-zack-hample-leonard-herman-and-slik-stik/1433793937

So for Christian to say he was just an employee (one of 5?) trying to now buy out the ownership and make things right is a bit misleading. It seems like these guys were in this together.

BTW, does this look like the same guy?
http://www.nutley.com/about_me.asp

Realestate agent as well as SlikStik owner? If so perhaps he has been spread too thin to keep tabs on the company and left that up to Christian or ??? to mismanage?  I never ordered anything from SlikStik personally, mainly due to the negative criticism on these forums scaring me away (came close with the Tornado, but ended up getting a GGG TurboTwist2 and love it).  I have 2 co-workers though who ordered control panels from SlikStik and had a similar experience as many on the group here. They eventually got them, but it required months waiting with constant hounding on their part and little in the way of feedback from SlikStik. Very poor customer service to say the least.

Well, I jumped the gun on my last comment and let my anger get away.

I just got off of the phone with Chris who made the controller and everything is fixed now.  It was a loose ground wire on one of the buttons causing my problems that I must have knocked loose when installing it.  Also, he rushed to get my controller to me before Christmas and didn't have the joysticks I wanted.  They are in now and on their way, so I am happy.

It looks like this is not SlikStik I was dealing with.  So if anyone has a SS order, I'd reverse the charges from them and order one from mameroom or someone like I did.  Then you will get your controller.

In the end, I am very happy with this thing and my son and I played games all night.  It was worth the wait.  This person made good with my order.  I hope the rest of you get yours.

There is a possibility that Scott bought boxes and packing materials from SlikStik, hence the return address, but that is just speculation here.

FYI... I received the following e-mail from Ms. Nicollette

Quote
I have forwarded all the complaints to the NJ Attorney General's
office of consumer Protection and I'm waiting to hear from them
again. So far I have received 8 complaints from across the country.

That's it!?
Only eight of us?

Have any of the others on this board who filed with Ms. Nicollette recieved an email from her?  I have not heard from her, so I wonder if I need to submit my complaint again.

I submitted a complaint to Ms. Nicollette and this is the email I received from her on December 28th:

"Sorry to report that there is no news.  I have now received 8 individual complaints on Slikstick.  I have forwarded all the complaints to the NJ Office of Attorney General, Division of Consumer Affairs, Case Management Tracking.  They are reviewing the situation and investigating the entire situation.  As soon as I hear from any one I will update you."

I, too, was surprised that there were only 8 complaints.

Well just an update, I talked to Chris, after he was MAI for a bit.
He said he is back in action and getting these panels out, without SS.
My panel, is jus awaiting an I-pac4, (Ultimarc is closed for about another week) but hopefully we can find another befor then.
I also resent him my color combination for the buttons, and he confirmed they were in stock, so now awaiting an Ipac4

I, too, just got off the phone with Christian.  We got some things hammered out, and he has promised to get my panel out to me in the next day or two.  Things are looking promising. I will keep everyone very closely updated.

Damoclese - good to hear, I know he has a few their that are almost complete, and should be ready fairly shortly.

To everyone else, I think we should give Chris another chance, he deff seems to be holding true on his word, and without SS, & coming out of his own pocket, to finish these things. He has already made good with some and is trying his hardest to make good with the rest. We just have to hang tight a bit longer.

I Kn0w th@t w3 should ch1!!z, but, as you may have surmised, most of us have heard this exact same song before  ... and more than a few times.

Please spare us the "we should give Xtian a chance" pleas as we have heard that a few times before as well and the end result is always the same ... another thread a few weeks later with almost exactly the same sequence of events.

You, yourself, have been told TWICE in the past 8 weeks that your panel was ready and would be shipped within days.

Got it yet ?

So they have lied to you for at least 8 weeks, and kept you waiting at least 16 weeks ...  and you had the nerve to tell people here that they were lying and spreading misinformation about SlikStik?

When/If you do finally get your panel, THEN you can ask folks to give Xtian a break. They won't (at least until they can see that perhaps this really have changed ... so far it is business as usual) , but at least then your request will be somewhat reasonable.

Let's see, are we back to a lack of IPacs now, or is it overlays, or maybe trackballs ?

 :dizzy:

Sincere best wishes for good luck in getting your stuff (nobody likes to see good people getting ripped off).

I actually thought it was pretty direct. I dunno WTF repeativly is.

  • I called you out because you posted in this thread 8 weeks ago telling us to chill out and calling people liars.
  • You got called out on that and then edited your posts to remove those accusations and subsequently denied calling anybody a liar.
  • Then you realized that you hadn't actually received your panel.
  • Then you reported that Xtian is a good guy and was going to ship your panel in the days immediately following Christmas.
  • Then you complained because it hadn't happened.
  • Then you say that we should all lay off of Xtian because he is making good.
  • I tell you that this is the standard pattern and that you shouldn't tell us to lay off of Xtian
  • I make a joke about things not being what they appear to be and you get annoyed

How is it that you are more angry at me than you are at Xtian ?

It's not like *I* took your money and then lied to you -- I've been totally honest and my services come free of charge!  ;)

Where the heck is Fozzy ?

Actually I think in the context of the movie she was only pretending to be comming.  Just like the control panels in question.

I really hope that something is shipped so that some can start the new year in good cheer.  If not keep on believing as long as you desire.

1. Some of the things I quoted on were lies
2. I edited post that offended people
3. Yes I didnt get my panel, but now im constantly on the phone and email with him, and he even sent pixs over of the CP
4. Yes he is a good guy, why would he be making good on orders for SS. Did he not make good with scott? Didn't someone report they got thier panel after the downfall? Havn't people posting this past week been able to get in contact with him?

OK, so you didn't get the joke. If you failed to make the connection, then it wouldn't seem relevant. It wasn't some random girly pic, it was specifically chosen to elicit the thoughts that BobA has made very plain. Maybe I am just too old for my humour to connect with you.

If you had bothered to actually read any of the SlikStik threads you would know that I have ordered from them and have never, ever had a problem ... I was a very satisfied customer. I, however, have come to understand that I was in the fortunate minority and will continue to warn people until such time as things actually are as you describe them to be.

Did he not make good with scott? Didn't someone report they got thier panel after the downfall? Havn't people posting this past week been able to get in contact with him?

Hey, when he makes right with the REST of the people that have been owed money for a long time (and we know that this isn't the case), THEN I will consider things moving in the right direction. Making things right with a required supplier is a first step, but hardly the great show of faith that you make it out to be.

Let's remember that after specifically promising to pay past debts, Xtian reneged and changed his cell number to avoid those debts.

As for me having to put in my $.005 ... I leave it to the reader at large to decide ...

Hey M37R01D - you're on the wrong board, this is Build your own controls, not Buy your own controls!

Seriously though, I hope you actually get your control panel, but don't hold your breath...

I called you out because you posted in this thread 8 weeks ago telling us to chill out and calling people liars.
You got called out on that and then edited your posts to remove those accusations and subsequently denied calling anybody a liar.
Then you realized that you hadn't actually received your panel.
Then you reported that Xtian is a good guy and was going to ship your panel in the days immediately following Christmas.
Then you complained because it hadn't happened.
Then you say that we should all lay off of Xtian because he is making good.
I tell you that this is the standard pattern and that you shouldn't tell us to lay off of Xtian
I make a joke about things not being what they appear to be and you get annoyed

This reminds me of another thread in a forum far far away (actually http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98489) where someone tried to cover up "mistakes" by deleting them and then denying the fact. Read for your own pleasure if you haven't done so.
Wish list: Galaga, Pacman, Pooyan, Star Wars cockpit, Gauntlet, Tron

And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three.

I didnt edit anything out like that, all that was edited was 1 minor offensive term, not removing accusations, LOL you guys are a trip.

Oh wow, I am soo bookmarking that for whenever I need a laugh. I only read the first page and then skipped ahead 20 or so to scan. in the urban dictionary, they need to add a link to the thread under the listing for "pwnage". ;D

Oh, and this pic was posted over there. I will NEVER look at Ewoks the same again!
