Yes.

Even still, it's a cartoon.  I watched some of the HD samples, and they do look very nice, but I'm not sure you gain as much extra resolution from a cartoon as an actual film transfer.  The biggest benefit IMO is that they cleaned up all the artifacts from the original cells.

FYI it looks like the PC widescreen version (at least the sample they provide) also cuts off the top and bottom to make it 'widescreen'.  At least the PC version comes with a full 4:3 version as well.  :dunno

Have you tried them?  I remember the DVD versions of the Sega hologram games and they were pretty much unplayable... the stupid DVD player always introduced way too much delay.  I wonder if recent DVD players/remotes are more responsive.

From the pictures I saw on another website the PC HD version is not cropped.

As for it being just a cartoon, there are still benefits from HD because of the detail put into the drawing...like lines, zoom in, zoom out..etc.

I can see why someone would be dissapointed in not getting that..

But until I know for sure if the Blueray version does not provide a full screen version, then it is a guess.

DVD's on the other hand have pitiful resolution compared to the way it should be, and imagine delay is another problem.

Access speed can be slower then a Laserdisc depending on where the information is located.   The analog tracks may be only a few spaces away on an LD.   LD's can be very fast when dependent on this factor.

On the other hand an HD file on a computer would be almost instant if done right depending on ram and cpu power.

DVD's being compressed files would suffer.  But yes it does depend on the player.   A computer playing it might not be so bad.
